Charger Shot(San Diego LB Steve Foley)

A San Diego Charger was shot Sunday morning by an off duty police officer. It happened around 3:30 Sunday morning..when an off duty Coronado police officer started following a man who was driving erratically. Police say the driver is Chargers linebacker Steve Foley.
The officer identified himself several times as a police officer, but Foley would not pull over. Foley then drove to his own neighborhood in Poway where he got out of the car and his girlfriend got behind the wheel. Police say Foley came at the officer who fired a warning shot. The woman then drove the car at the officer. The officer fired into the car, then shot Foley. But police say Foley kept coming, and the off duty officer shot him several more times. Foley was taken to Sharp Hospital for surgery. The woman was taken into custody. No charges have been filed yet. Steve Foley was arrested back in April for battery on a police officer and public drunkeness.

Thanks for the nice visual...I'm guessing his career is sacked, so to speak. No word on his prognosis, but this isn't his first brush with the law and Schottenheimer doesn't strike me as the coddling type.

Linebackers and running backs are the most violent people in football. I remember a linebacker named Curtis cut down a fan who got onto the field and tried to run off with the football. DARN! Noone ever tried that again.
On the other hand, if you know where your wide receiver lives, fire him.

Noone ever tried that again. Ah yes. You're referring to Mike Curtis of the old Baltimore Colts who layed out a very intoxicated fan back in the 70's. That was a great moment.

I take you speak of "The Player" as we now call him since we cannot bear to speak his name and Parcells has almost exclusively alludes to him as such: I don't know his whereabouts.

He must've been on something... I'm thinking so too, but keep in mind that he has a history of violence towards police officers so this isn't necessarily out of character.

I grew up in Baltimore as a huge Baltimore Colts fan. Mike Curtis was just one, mean, hard-hitting linebacker in the mold of Jack Lambert and Dick Butkis. That is one of my all-time favorite highlights.
The guy jumps onto the field, sprints out in between the huddles, grabs the ball and starts running for the opposite sideline. Curtis turns around, sees him grab the ball, and just lays him flat with a forearm shiver. It's classic.
I would imagine there may have been a little alcohol involved on the part of the misguided fan...

This one is definitely suspicious ~ more like "home" ~ cop is offduty, tracks down the guy and his date, shoots at both of them, hits the guy.
Sounds like a semi-pro hit to me.

After several days it is now clear that that more than just something smells in this case.
Many experts in the police profession say the office over reached and over stepped his authority.
One professional said that it seemed more like the young man had his pride hurt so decided to take justice into his own hands.
Most agree that Mansker the officer needs to be sacked and quickly.
However, it would not be unusual for the cops to protect one of their own, if you know what I am getting at.
