Yeah, I'm pretty far inland in NC, so I'm not worried about the hurricane, but I still don't like all the rainy, yucky weather we've been having.
Me either. Whenever the storms come, we usually get hit hard. I moved further inland last year, but still about 30 minutes from the coast.
Well, I'm just glad it hit when it did. My parents are going to Florida for their second honeymoon this week. (House is all mine tonight through Thursday night).
Yeah, that was an easily made mistake. Probably be a lot more people making it before the night's over, lol.
Where in Florida? I'm not sure we're safe yet down here.(not to scare you or anything)
St. Petersburg. They were going dead or alive, so I guess no hurricane was going to stop them.
What are gas prices down to in your area??
Around here, they have broken the $2.30 mark, some stations have hit $2.29.
Ours are still in the low 2.60s.
Man, I envy you. It's $2.72 here!
One of my college friends lies near St. Petersburg, he and his family have become experts at the storm thing, although you kinda have to if you live in FL.
Yeah, I don't know much about hurricanes. The only one I ever had to deal with was Hurrican Opal, which managed to go far enough inland to his the Atlanta area. And that was about ten years ago.
I've had to deal with hurricanes in the six years I've lived down here. Ivan and Wilma were the 2 that caused me the most trouble.
Dead thread ping?
I'm going to get something to eat. I'll try to get back to the thread in a little bit. In the meantime, people should talk about their jobs as Dolly originally suggested.
Oh, wait! I'm here!
Anyway, I imagine a hurricane's no fun. The one that I went through I don't even remember, except that it the next morning our yard was littered with gigantic tree branches (thankfully our house wasn't hit).
The 'canes that hit last year flooded the basement of my old house 5(yes, 5) times, forcing me to move down here.
Wow. Flooding is something I can say I've never had to deal with before.
If you don't want to talk about your jobs, we can talk about hurricane preparedness. What supplies do you have? How many flashlights do you have? When was the last time you checked them for working batteries? Do you have a battery-operated portable radio? Do you have one of those crank-operated radios that you could use even if you were running low on batteries? Do you have an extra box of trash bags? Do you have extra rolls of duct tape? Do you have extra containers that you could fill with drinking water? Do you have knives and scissors? Do you have a first aid kit? How much of all of this do you have?
I'll show my paranoia by giving some of these answers later.
