you know Eleanor, I think kids now are a whole lot more clothes conscious than when I was young. I don't recall getting to uptight about clothes until I was maybe in high school.. now little ones are calling for designer outfits..and their parents comply . example..my daughter in law is one who put her kids in VERY EXPENSIVE designer things as babies....good MIL that I was, I kept my mouth shut, but inwardly felt it was pretty sad,

I agree with you pretty sad.
I know there is peer pressure on children today but I do wonder how much of this originally has come from the parents and in particular the mother.
Also stores are aiming so much of their marketing to this particular age group. One thing that does concern me is the party type clothes available. Tight mini skirts and boob tube type tops for 4 - 10 years. Whilst not giving pedophiles a pass on this one these type of clothes are not helpful.
