We think Hoosiermama may have solved the money thing and I agree it's VERY plausible. She discussed "delivering cars" for a dealer around the country.

I know a couple of people that do this. I know because I bought a car from him. The deal was $1000 check. $500 cash. When he needed money, he would go to an auction, pick up a couple of cars and re-sell them. It put cash in his pocket and made the auction purchase a wash.

I can picture a preppy, good looking dude like Karr showing up in Colorado at Christmas time to deliver a sports car. No one would blink an eye. It put cash in his pocket and the dealer plates made him anonymous.

Of course, this is only speculative but the dude I bought my car from STILL does this 20 years later and he's a frigg'n county legislator.

We also mentioned the "Southern Car" newspaper ads that were prominent years ago. Georgia or Alabama to Colorado...It's a thought.

It's plausible, but it doesn't really convince me. I know some folks that do this kind of thing, but they're supplementing their income with it. The money to do this kind of traveling would seem to indicate something else. I'm almost scared to ask what the something else was.
