SURVIVOR: COOK ISLANDS - Official Thread

Yes FReepers and FReeperettes, its time once again for another season of Survivor.
This time they are in the Cook Islands, in the middle of the South Pacific.

I was going to start off this thread by informing you all about how Mark Burnett’s Production Company has decided to split the tribe along ethnic backgrounds. But that subject has been pretty much beaten to death on at least three different threads. So. . . .

I would like to point out that for all their talk about “minorities” not applying to the show as much as “whites” and about how they had to send their casting producers out to round up minorities, they apparently didn’t have to look too far.

Of the 20 contestants recruited for this season, no less than 13 are from California!
And of those 13, NINE are from the greater Los Angeles area!
So much for diversity!

The thing is, according to the spoiler websites there are supposed to be no less than 3 budding romances this season. And that is per Jeff Probst himself.

Now we know about the "cuddle puddle" over at Raratonga but the question is who exactly is it between? Adam and Candice? Or Adam and Parvati? Or maybe this is two of the 3 Jeff mentions.

And the spoiler sites also have a romance building over at Aitutaki between J.P. and Cecilia. Even though we haven't seen anything about this yet, I think this is what catches Jeff by surprise at Tribal Council.

Sounds to me like there are a bunch of horn dogs this season! I haven't been to any spoiler sites (yet) this season ... based on what you said, it's starting to sound like Survivor Love Fest.

It does make you wonder are they for real or just thinking about cashing in like Boston Rob and Amber.

On 97.1 FM radio in Los Angeles, Sekou was on earlier this week {either Tuesday or Wednesday} talking about being the first one booted off and his experiences.

His theory of why Stephanie sided with the other women was that she felt like an outsider in more ways than one. The other four tribemates are all from the New York City area and she is from South Carolina. He also said that the editing can be misleading. When he was seen resting, he was tired after having worked on the shelter, taking a break and trying to build a fire and back and forth between the shelter and trying to get a fire started for 7 hours.

"It's dire straights for one tribe when a lack of fire leads to serious dehydration. Which tribe cannot get a simple fire started? My guess is that the Hiki tribe cannot figure out how to use the flint that Jeff gave them at Tribal Council. "

A flint! I didn't know WHAT that was. I thought it was moot point anyways since they go back with their torches, don't they? Or not? Perhaps they have to leave them there but I kinda remember other groups walking home through the woods with their torches.

That was the good old days before they had to paddle a boat to tribal council.

Tribe of two again?

Why don't they learn how to use a flint BEFORE they get on the island?
