A man dove into an Oakland Park canal to evade police after he waved his privates at a deputy while publicly urinating.
A woman saw the man urinating near a Mobil gas station's dumpster at around 9:30 a.m. at Oakland Park Boulevard and Northwest 31 Avenue in Oakland Park, according to Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright.
When the onlooker approached him, he waved at her -- with his privates.
He then sped off on his scooter after learning that the woman was actually a BSO sergeant, police said.
Deputies followed the man to 2700 North Andrews Avenue in Oakland Park, where he dove into a canal.
''I don't think he could swim,'' Coleman-Wright said. ``He was having difficulty.''
Two deputies dove into the water after him, and ''saved'' him, police said. The suspect has been taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.
I guessed the guy has just saved taxpayers a wad of cash
Was Bill Clinton in town for a fundraiser?
Why did the deputies pull him out of the canal? There was absolutely no need to do so. Just keeping an eye on the perp when and if he decided to get out, would be sufficient.
LOL...Guess he forgot he couldn't swim.
no illegal aliens or criminals running around, got to waste time on a guy peeing and jumping in the water. nice.
There is a guy around Garland that gets caught once in a while that wears a giant baby diaper, with no other clothes. The last time they caught him he had a giany baby bottle filled with whiskey, while riding a motor scooter...
Illegals in my neighborhood can be seen peeing against retaining walls, fences, etc with regularity in my neighborhood, so don't be too sure.

The guy was trying to be descrete by a dumpster; probably had to go real bad and she wants to get closer?????
She's the one who belongs in custody.
Why, I'd be keeping an eye on him in that canal as the local alligators surely need feeding, but nothing beyond that.
Dayam, this makes all scooterists look bad!
Ahhh, the old "zip-and-dip".
they need their skulls cracked then.
How many shakes does it take to make a "wave"?
You can't let it drip all over your sneakers!
What did the gators have to say about all that?
Thanks for the correction. The article was in the "Miami" Hearld. I added "Miami" to the title to give an idea about the location of the story. All to often people post news articles that have no reference to location. I suspect only the locals in the area would know where "Oakland Park" was located. Sorry this ruffled your feathers.
