ATLANTA, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- The mother of a man who claims to have killed JonBenet Ramsey tried to kill him when he was very young, a friend of the family said in Georgia.
George McCrary, who says he has known Wexford Karr, father of suspect John Karr, for 40 years, said the suspect's mother, Patricia Elaine Adcock, "made a big round donut (of kindling) and put him in the middle of it" when he was a baby, ABC News reported Tuesday.
"She just boxed the little baby in and tried to light it," McCrary said, but John's older brother Michael "came running in just before she got the flame to the flammable material."
Adcock was committed to a mental institution and the marriage broke up. She died in 2000.

And we're all dazzled. Can't get enough... pant... pant... pant.
More news, more coverage! O'Reilly, Hannity & Colmes, Greta, WE WANT MORE COVERAGE!
Tivo sales are skyrocketing to record every morsel of the second-by-second events as they continue to unfold for the next ten years.
Pathetic...
The critical question is whether Karr actually was in Atlanta that Christmas. If so, it is unlikely that someone who "had no money" would be in a position to fly to Boulder, make his way to the Ramsey's house, and manage to break in and hide.
Just so happens that I read about it this morning while looking for some other info.
In Boulder, after performing substantial renovations on their new home, the Ramseys were asked in 1994 to open up their residence to a Boulder Historical Society tour of homes. The hundreds of people who strolled through the Ramseys home that year found themselves bedazzled by elaborately decorated Christmas trees in virtually every room of the house.
The whole damned country had OJ SIMPSON ON THE BRAIN. People actually went psychotic, without sleep, argued at worked, lost jobs, couldn't work...all the while Osama bin Laden was getting ready to bomb our embassies in Africa, his first major act of war against us. I am sorry for America at time. But, as they say, the people want to scarf up vomit, then the media will give more vomit for the people....and it will contine to be the number one news story when it should be relegated to maybe 10 or 15 after more important events that directly affect us , even our lives perhaps.
Didn't OJ have a match? He was found not guilty anyhow./s
You may find this hard to believe, but some people are actually capable of following the Ramsey case and at the same time follow all the news on N.Korea, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Hezbollah and gay marriage. I have personally protested football and baseball posts on FR for years, but have found that the same people who post on those threads are also current on current events. The lesson was: if you don't have anything to contribute to an article, click the next article. Just because you don't have anything to contribute, doesn't mean those who are interested are total imbeciles.
ANd the Ramsey lawyer said if it continued he's sue her....Larry King pointed out he had already won several law suits.....Maybe it'll shut her up.
Or by John Ramsey
I had that theory in a post a few days ago. Back before this story started to turn into a media circus.
...people who post on those threads are also current on current events.
...if you don't have anything to contribute to an article, click the next article.
Sometimes it's amusing how some Freepers obsess over threads they say aren't important, but spend considerable time flaming. I wouldn't include AmericanInTokyo in that company, however.
It's clear to me the obsessive, thread-hijacking, moderator-complaining ones have their own low-value (entertainment) threads, but if the moderators don't mind...
I never said anything was "unimportant" about anything. That was your word. I'm glad you find it amusing however. In this day and age we all need more "entertainment" as you call it.
You can liken this to tending my garden of lillies. Why should anyeone tend this garden of lillies when the world is falling apart and North Korea has nukes? Screw the lillies! Good Lord! Nobody but NOBODY should have a garden of lillies. The world is about to end. Did you hear North Korea has Nukes??? We should all go do [insert whatever] because N Korea might do [insert something[. So what. Till N Korea actually does do something everything as lfie as we know it should come to a complete standstill?
As I said before, there are FReepers who are able to process information on several, and unrelated, topics. If all FReepers don't have that ability, then it's a shortcoming that I won't take slight to. I don't have any "low-value entertainment threads", as you call it. I have three little grandsons and don't find much of what is going on now entertaining at all, not even people who murder children. In fact I haven't been entertained in a while.
Not sure what this has to do with me, but if it does, please post your sources. All I know is that I have three little grandsons that will grow up in a very different world that I grew up in. These three precious little boys (in my world -- obviously you could care less), it matters to me that they are safe. Well, in fact the whole topic is probably way over your little freeper head. I'll let it go at that. There may be topics that you just plain can't relate to but that really relate to somebody else. I'm always "not clicking" on links that don't interest me. There must be hundreds upon hundreds of links on FR that I did not click on or respond to,
Like I said before, if you have nothing to contribute, just click on another thread.
I'm the idiot I guess. I was the poster that started this thread. I was sick of the dismissive posters that said this topic was unimportant.
I didn't mean to offend you. You seemed to be interested in the Karr/Ramsey story. Since I too was interested (I posted the damn story), I presumed we could communicate. I guess I was wrong.

I respect your comments PPM and you have given me reason to pause further and reflect a bit on what I have written. Perhaps you are right.
Thank you, too.
I see your points.
I would say, that in the sense of the US mass media, we (a great many of us) are upset that issues of relative insignificance take precedent over major world events that will effect our pocketbooks and economic livlihood (gas at 100bucks a barrel??) ,or our very lives. This in essence is why we turn to FR I would suppose. It might just be many of us would hope that FR itself would never turn into an obsessive, dumbed down tabloid type center of discussion, (it is a forum of conservative activism first and foremost per its own charter) but I see that is not going to happen at least not yet, so I will accept what you have to say and thank you again.
There are still Holloway threads?
Well, you know, AIT, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Conversely we could assume that ugliness is too.
There are lots of issues in the Ramsey case that are germane to much bigger issues. At least issues that are important to me personally. First is that an innocent little girl was murdered ten years ago and whoever did this horrible crime has walked free for that long. We have no idea how many other crimes will be attributed to him. Then there is the botched (alleged, but pretty well documented) police investigation. The public hanging of the Ramseys by the MSM. How pedophiles live and work among us without detection. Why do they do this, how do we protect our children?
I don't see it as "tabloid" at all but as a case about our society. Our children are our most valuable resource, certinly my children and their children are most valuable to me. And they live in a society where this kind of thing can happen to the most innocent among us with no consequence to the perpetrator for ten years, or more.
delacoert and I kinda made up in private message. I totally misread his comment back to me because I'm a dork. As I said before, not to beat a dead horse, just because it's not important to you doesn't mean its unimportant. I would die for my children or grandchildren, if it would save them. If I'm spared that fate, then I'll help try to be part of the solution in the meantime.
And also, thank you for your kind comments.
