Bound man plunges to his death on Dallas interchange

A 20-year-old man with his hands bound behind his back fell or was pushed about 120 feet to his death early Monday from the highest ramp of the "high five" interchange in north Dallas, police said.

Investigators believe that the victim was a Dallas County resident of either Indian or Pakistani background, said Sgt. Gene Reyes, a Dallas homicide detective.

Reyes declined to give the man's name until after his family was notified.

Meanwhile, investigators were trying to figure out what led to the fatal plunge.

"It could be either or -- a homicide or a suicide," Reyes said. "He was bound. That's why we're looking at different angles on this investigation."

The "high five" is the new, five-level interchange where Interstate 635 and U.S. 75 meet. It opened last November.

Reports of a man on the pavement of U.S. 75 were phoned into police about 12:55 a.m., Reyes said. Officers located a car on the highest ramp; the car was subsequently connected to the victim, Reyes said.

The detective declined to say what was used to tie the man's hands.

"If it does turn out to be a homicide, that's going to be a critical element of the investigation," Reyes said.

It must be suicide because most everyone ties their hands behind their back before doing themselves in.

While driving a car, no less. :-)

Hard to know. Maybe the perps just thought it would be a way of pulling it off without any evidence pointing to them. Had to be more than one perp involved because the victims car was there. The victim was a Paki, maybe that had something to do with it.

I wonder if Mr. Badhiwala is a member of the pioneer family that settled Wylie Texas? /sarc

Man if the muslims are finding little places like Wylie, it's making me more nervous.

I'd bet a dozen donuts he was taken for a ride!

WFAA reported "A car with its engine running was recovered from the roadway above." Strange story.

I wonder if they are getting rid of the ones they don't think they can trust?

No Leads or Suspects in Ottawa's 11th Murder
Josh Pringle
Monday, August 21, 2006

An autopsy will be conducted today on the body of a 22-year-old man found dead at a Vars Dairy Farm on Saturday.

Ottawa Police confirm they are treating the death of Mohamed Jassem Zalal as the capital's 11th homicide of 2006.

The body of Zalal was found with his hands bound behind his back and his pants down to his knees on the side of a dirt driveway off Rockdale Drive.

The Ottawa Sun quotes police sources as saying he suffered massive trauma to the head from a major blow with a blunt object.

Police say Zalal is a known associate of the Ledbury-Banff Crips gang.

Police say they have no leads in the case and no suspects in custody.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Major Crime Investigators.

I have some ideas about this whole deal, but I'll keep it to myself (hope I'm wrong). Driving the freeways here late at night has become treacherous, as we have seen in recent months.

That particular part of the High Five isn't covered by surveillance cameras, and traffic on that overpass lightens up a bit after midnight, especially on a Sunday.

Depending on how it was done, it could have taken as little as ten seconds to accomplish (if it was, say, a body dump), and there's certainly enough time to do that on a Sunday night.

(I live less than three miles from the interchange.)

I live/work in the Sacramento CA area and I find it hard to believe that there is any 10 second period free from all traffic such that someone could "dump" a body, let alone push someone still living off such an interchange. Of course, I don't know that area.
