There's a lot more in that note that suggests that Karr wrote it. His punctuation for one thing, the use of
exclamation marks in particular. He hasn't changed the style from the old days...he keeps to the old friendly letter format.
He's sarcastic Don't try to grow a brain John....and that attitude shows up in the yearbook in (unlike your loving sister).
Then there's the words themselves....Talking about bad things that happened, Karr writes: "Blurred by my own eyes" in the yearbook.
Suwart said the suspect described the encounter as "a blur". That's a very unusual word to describe a murder scene.
Bet "blur" is a favorite word of his just like he uses exclamations much more freely than most of us would.
Wonder what the odds are on a LONG, carefully punctuated ransom note with a lot of exclamation points and "Victory" at the end.

In December 2000, I didn't know that John was a child molester/kiddie porn collector, though I did know he was really strange and didn't treat Lara with any respect.
So there I was at the company Christmas party, sitting at a table with my ex, Lara, John, and another couple we'll call Michelle and Rich. Michelle was about 31 or so, somewhat attractive, and though not married to Rich, they have lived together for many years. John was seated between Lara and Michelle.
The wine was flowing and John was drinking more than most. He was in full blown salesman mode and was trying his best to charm Michelle. It was almost like he thought no one else was around. He danced with Michelle many times, though he never danced with Lara. Rich thought it was wierd, but didn't act jealous. Later that evening John was holding Michelle's hand under the table(it was obvious), and you could see that Lara was very embarrassed and humiliated(though Rich seemed to think it was funny, sort-of). At one point, in the men's room, John was reciting poetry and babbling about Michelle. Yes, he was drunk. During their last dance, John appeared to stumble and fell to the ground pulling Michelle down underneath him.
Since John and Lara lived close to me, and John would never let Lara drive his crappy Jaguar, I offered to give them a ride home. While Lara was retrieving a few things and locking their car, John was sitting in my backseat with his head hanging out the door babbling things like, "I've blown it, she'll never love me now...oh my Michelle...she's so wonderful...". The whole evening had been surreal.
At some point in the future, Lara told me that this was typical behavior.
What I find most odd about this, is that Michelle was actually a few years older than Lara and looked 30-something, while Lara was 27 and could have passed for 18.
