OK, I'm sure I'm going to tick some of you off for pinging this. But the 1986 Mets were one of the more memorable sports teams of the 1980's

Xer Ping

Ping list for the discussion of the politics and social (and sometimes nostalgic) aspects that directly effects Generation Reagan / Generation-X (Those born from 1965-1981) including all the spending previous generations (i.e. The Baby Boomers) are doing that Gen-X and Y will end up paying for.

I won $1,400 on the '69 Mets, while in college, on a local bet. Haven't followed any of the teams, since.

'06 METS REMINISCENT OF '86

The Mets 1986 squad played good solid baseball, but were cocky and arrogant ... the Mets 2006 squad plays good solid baseball and are not cocky and arrogant. I don't see how there is any comparison to call it reminiscent at all.

Otherwise, here is hoping for a Subway Series in NYC once again in year 2006!

GO YANKEES !!!!

I will be in NYC on WED and want to go solo to the Mets/Cardinals game that evening.

If any Mets' fans are on this post, what's the best way to get a good single ticket? Does Shea have a 'Day of Game' ticket window, where they sell good seats that have been turned in by season ticket holders? Or are there good scalpers outside the park?

The 1986 Mets had good starting pitching unlike the 2006 Mets.

Gooden, Ojeda had a career year, Sid Fernandez. The best pitcher the Mets have now is Steve Trachsel.

"That team, to me, was the ultimate team," David Wright said.

I think a team that ran a platoon at 2nd base can't qualify as an 'ultimate team.'

Belated CONGRATS to the Mets for clinching their division title! The Yanks just clinched the AL East title (because my Dead Sox lost tonight), but we won't talk about that...

I would love to see the Mets win the WS again, but there are some pretty fierce teams in the AL. Should be interesting...
