I certainly hope this guy knew some details that were not publicly known, and that the DA isn't buying a bill of goods. I tend to believe that this guy had to know something that piqued authorties interest, and that this isn't just your run of the mill whack-job confession. If Karr isn't the perp, then I think he knows who the perp is and the perp shared these details with him. These pedophiles like to compare notes and brag to fellow travellers about their conquests. Karr could be using that knowledge to get himself a free ride to the US and out of a legthy sentence in a Thai prison that he most likely wouldn't survive.
All of this is assuming that LE and the DA are competent. We know that the DA and LE in Boulder weren't competent 10 years ago. Here's hoping that the new batch is a cut above.
Also, judging by his appearance, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that he has AIDS, especially when you consider his proclivities and where he was. This may be nothing more than a ploy to get into a US jail where he will receive at least some level of healthcare.
Then, we have the curious little factoid that he lived close to the Ramseys in GA, but doesn't seem to have ever lived in CO. Very, very curious little deal we have going on here. I suspect it will be some time before we have the full story.

He could have left the note, taken the body and buried it? Why didn't he? Because he was on foot and didn't know the area well enough and he had more or less put a time on this horror.

He leaves the foreign country, arrives back to the safety of the United States, only to be found innocent of the charges. By the time he is found innocent, he's on his death bed, has a one-on-one interview with Mike Wallace and Oprah Winfrey, and the world is asked to understand the mind of the pedophile.
