Just heard on the NFL network's Total Access show that Junior Seau may not retire after all. He is flying to New England tonight and if things go well he will sign with the Patriots by the end of this week.
Oooh, that's big. Him and Bruschi (if his wrist heals quickly enough) would make the LB section of their defense basically unbeatable.
I don't know what he's got left in the tank physically and that's obviously what the Pats want to find out.
I think he'd like one more shot at a ring but it'll be up to Bill.
Smarts can get you through a lot though, and he's always been very good at reading plays. Now the interesting question is what was his contract situation in Miami? Could the Dolphins call foul on this? Being division mates I'm sure all the contract-ologists on both teams are picking through that right now.
I'll believe this when I see it.
yeah if anything it will be a one year deal, but I don't think the Dolphins would have let him walk unless they didn't think he had anything to give
U.S. President George Bush presents Junior Seau the President's Volunteer of the Year award during the White House ceremony celebrating the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month.
True enough. Especially in Belichick's system. I'm not sure about his contract situation but they didn't mention any problems on NFL network so I assume their are none.
Oh it'll definetly be a one year deal. I think Belichick will work him out and then make a decision.
We'll soon find out.
He's gonna freeze his a$$ off!
At a guess the contract situation is probably OK, otherwise just bringing him in for a workout would risk tampering charges which can cost some serious draft picks. But I garauntee the Miami people are digging into the dark corners of the CBA and Seau's contract right now hoping for something that says Seau is still theirs... which of course they won't reveal until after the workout.
I just did a google and the Dolphins did release him so there's no contract issue.
Indeed we shall.
A full release? Then he should be in the clear. If NE picks him up, and especially if they beat the Phins because of a big play by him somebody will get fired for that one.
This could be really interesting.
