By coincidence, I was re-reading "JonBenet" by Steve Thomas and Don Davis when this news broke. Steve Thomas was one of the lead Boulder detectives on the case, and spent a year and a half of his life doing nothing else but working the case. His chronicle of the Ramseys, the Boulder DA's office, and the events that took place, from his perspective as an experienced street cop and detective, paint the most infuriating picture of a crime investigation that I've ever read. The frustration made Thomas give up police work after beating his head against the wall for almost two years. The Ramseys' actions couldn't have been more suspicious if a Hollywood script writer had plotted the whole thing out for them. They did virtually nothing that normal crime victims do, and did virtually everything that the guilty do to evade and cover up. The DA's office was in bed with the Ramseys' defense team (which was formed within a few hours of discovery of the body), and thwarted virtually every attempt by the street cops to properly investigate the case. The cops faced nothing but evasion and lies, and more evasion and lies. This is the single most infuriating book I've ever read, and the actions of the Ramseys and the DA left me utterly convinced that Patsy Ramsey did the deed and that John Ramsey immediately began an extremely evasive defense operation while the first responders were still on the scene. I'm amazed at the current turn of events, and hope the DNA and confession stories are true. I hope to see the honest street cops vindicated, after everyone above them thwarted their best efforts for years. What the Ramseys faced in the way of public persecution was almost entirely of their own creation by being very slippery and evasive.

Thank you for a concise review of the facts. That's how I remember it as well.

It's beginning to look more like John Karr #2:

I always thought the parents were suspicious. I'm glad I didn't dance on her grave though. I'm never dance on someone's grave :( Well...okay maybe Fidel Castro.

Or maybe they thought his arguments had merit.

Amen. That's why I always suspected them. I'm glad the scum is caught.

Well, since its clear they didn't have merit, where does that leave these folks?

I think that you're right that they excluded the possibility of the sneeze being from the factory because the DNA didn't look as though it was from that part of the world. All they really knew was that it was from someone who got close enough to the underpants to sneeze on them.

The DNA of non-family on the underpants on the body of a dead girl.

Seems pertinent to me!

You certainly are not well informed about anything.

Really? Do you have your drivers permit yet ... or are you still a student driver?
Sort of correlates ... but I doubt if you get it.

I wonder how they got a sample from him to match with DNA they had from the crime scene? Someone said he'd written letters. Did they get DNA from the envelopes?

Normal folks who have a beloved daughter killed by an unknown maniac most certainly do jump in a plane and take their young son to safety. How in the world do you know what "normal" behavior is at such a horrible time?

Dog breath yourself. YOU are the one who brought up Fox news, and claimed they said there was no dna.

Those guys and their publisher were sued by the Ramseys for libel. The Ramsey's won.
You chose the wrong book on the case to read.
