Now, I could be wrong, but from this one image of Castro holding the newspaper, I think there is enough here to doubt the veracity of the photo, and if one photo is off, that means that ALL the photos have been publicized under false pretenses.

I dunno. I've been using Photoshop for almost 10 years. I get your points, but I don't think there's enough here to call it a fake.
To be honest, his thumb interacting with the printed text makes it look real.

Did you use the sharpening filters... unsharp mask maybe? Those will give you those 'halo' effects I see.

I agree with you and just said this on another thread. It is him from a healthier time and the newspaper has been photo shopped onto another newspaper also he has been placed into a photo of a bedroom. I don't have photoshop and I am just looking at the photo as it appears on FR.

There is an easier way to tell the picture is fake:
I believe this picture was taken in 2002. I find it hard to believe he would be wearing the same jacket.
