I just saw the TV show "Monk." Rented it cause my Blockbuster is too cheap to stock up on very much.
I like it. Don't have regular tv and never saw "Monk" before. I like that guy. He played Antonio Scarpacci in "Wings" and a funny alien pawnshop owner in Men In Black.
Only, Episode 1 had a sniper using a Weatherby Fibermark. They could tell which model Weatherby from a recovered bullet?
And they said it was a British firearm. I remember when Weatherby was made in Germany. And then in Japan. It's made in Britain? Quality must be bad, then.
And they also knew the sniper had bought a scope for a Weatherby Fibermark. This before they had seen the gun. I thought that was funny. Like you only buy a Weatherby Fibermark scope for a Weatherby Fibermark.
But I like the show. Antonio's a funny guy.
BTW, is this show still on? And how long has it been on?
Yes it is still on. Try the USA network. And yes, it is very funny. Also check out "Psych" on the same network which is similarly amusing. The actors name in Tony Shaloub.
If you have broadband internet and a computer that can run iTunes, you can buy the episodes and watch them on your computer for $1.99/episode.

I loved the show. The first season was great! And every week was as good or better than the last one. Rent all of 'em as you can. The new ones are just ok, he does to much stuff the orginal Monk wouldn't do... : ) <<< me

Check out Apple iTunes' Music Store. You need to download iTunes and install it on either Windows or Mac. Check the Apple web site for the program.
If you get a video enabled iPod, you can even take your favorite tv programs on the road with you.
The episodes are commercial free, and I think the new episodes are posted for purchase and download within 48 hours of their airing on cable or television. I could be wrong about the latency, it could be shorter.
Eventually someone will tell you that there are less legal ways to obtain the episodes, but I've found that iTunes is more reliable and usually faster than searching for episodes of my favorite shows on the file sharing networks.

The quality of the iTunes episodes is pretty poor. They're designed to be shown on a video iPod, so they are shown in a really tiny window. You can blow it up, but you really lose detail that way. Plus, the iTunes version is typically pan-and-scan. I know all of this, because I recently bought the fifth season of Alias through iTunes. It was watchable, but only just. Of course, it's cheaper than the DVDs. But, if you want it to watch on your TV, the best bet is to either NetFlix the series, or buy the Monk: The Obsessive Compulsive box set. It collects seasons one through four in a discounted single package.
Like you, we don't do regular TV. And we just discovered Monk, too. Love it. But we've exhausted our local Blockbuster supply as well. Thanks for the post. We may get some good ideas.
That's true. The quality will be lower because the resolution of the video from iTunes is designed mostly for the iPod's small screen, but it scales up decently on a computer screen. Good enough for watching anyhow. I've never been big on high fidelity audio or video. Being more of a reader, the story and dialog is more important than being able to make out every pore on a person's face.
For the sake of trying it out yourself LouAvul, go ahead and download the iTunes software and then go to the Music Store. Click on TV Shows, and then look for the free download. This time it is the first episode of Three Moons Over Milford. You can see if the resolution works for you. I watch iTunes on my 12" laptop's screen and it is more than clear enough, about the same as watching a 12" television set.
Knowing (roughly) the speed of the bullet, and given its deformation, I suspect they could safely surmise it had been fired from a distance at which accuracy would depend on the use of a scope.
We had a guy in forensics who identified the make, model and a period of time of manufacture of a rifle based on the rifling on recovered bullet fragements. The case was a homicide.
Monk's a great show. The Dead Zone, another USA Network original, is also superb.
When is Psych on? I hear good things about it and once I get my cable back (just moved) I have to give it a go.
Tony Shaloub won an Emmy or something big like that for the role. It's been on for about 4 years, with I think a year off in there.
I like when he won't step on cracks, or hates touching things with possible germs, but to catch the crook, he always ends up having to go past his neuroses!
Psych is quite clever but I think the schtick will get stale in short order.
If you watch Monk, you'll see the commercials for Psych also. I have TIVO so I really don't know when anything is on since TIVO figures that all out for me and I watch it whenever I have time. (Which is wicked great for sports) Or you could try USA Networks website.
