Then my evil mission is a success.

So, we finally found the Jenny that jennyscool dedicated his screen name to.
Couple of thoughts. Mythbusters is a joke. Shells will generally explode, but they can do so with enough power to keep you back. To really get someone's attention, put a couple of cans of spray paint into the fire. That'll wake you up.
Finally, this sounds like an indication to me that I should hold off on a laptop until this little "feature" is under control.

WoW! I was planning on getting a Dell Laptop, but now, I'm NOT going to get a Dell. I wonder what's wrong with those batteries to make them explode?

Actually - the bullet and the case tend to go in opposite directions.... Both can fly, although the case is often more likely to go farther than the bullet. But it is quite possible that the cases were "zinging" past them...

Thanks, T. Either way, it's not a good idea to be nearby.

"But didn't the Mythbusters take this one on?" IIRC their test used .22LR.

Thanks for posting this. Now I can prove to my husband that my Dell laptop does get too hot to hold and I'm not dreaming it up!
