Not a particularly well written article, but it brings up a topic that tends to get swept under the carpet: the widespread sexual exploitation of children.
My personal opinion is that immodest dress in children reflects the underlying values and morals (or lack thereof) of the parents. What end is achieved by allowing a 9 year old to wear a skimpy outfit? What specifically are you trying to facilitate?
Actions often speak louder than words, and I really, really, really don't like the message that parents are sending. Remember, it's the parents who not only allow the clothes to be worn, but who purchase them in the first place.
Did you hear that Dakota Fanning will be nude in her next movie? The reason for the nudity is that the scene will show her being raped. I haven't heard one peep of outrage.
My daughters and I all attempt to dress modestly. I am a married woman and I don't need to be tempting others to sin in thought. I'm going to eventually teach my son the ability to look away. Right now he is blissfully unaware of physical beauty. I don't think of myself as a prude. I just don't see point in dressing any other way. I am not attention starved! :o)
