We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Israel has moved around 10,000 troops into Lebanon. In Lebanon, Israel raided a hospital in a Hezbollah-controlled area and captured several guerrillas hiding there.
Toyota overtook Ford in monthly sales last month.
And it reached only 98F in Washington yesterday; 101F, with a heat index of 114F, forecast today.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

The interesting part was that the recipe comes from the Caldwell County Hospital cook book.

Good Morning!
Rain, and a cooler 70 degrees at the moment.
It was so warm yesterday here that Margarita-ville sounded like a nice name for this town!
To: Iowa Granny
I didn't actually look in the cook book; it was FEATURED in the newspaper!

Never heard of okra muffins but I make a broccoli (sp?) cornbread that is scrumptious. I'd like to at least look at the muffin recipe.

I make broccoli cornbread too, kayak. I gave the recipe to my DIL, who took some to a church supper when she lived in Tenn., and she said everyone there was asking for the recipe.
Since there are now TWO requesting the recipe for Fresh Okra Muffins, here goes:
2 C. self-rising cornbread mix
1 T. sugar
1/2 t. salt
1 1/4 C. milk
2 lg. eggs, beaten
1/4 C. vegetable oil
1 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. hot sauce
1/4 C. chopped onions
2 C. thinly sliced okra (rounds)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine cornbread mix, sugar & salt. In separate bowl, combine milk, eggs, oil, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Add to dry ingredients, then fold in onions and okra.
Grease muffin pans and place in oven for 5 min. Then spon in batter, filling 2/3 full.
Bake 20 min. Makes 18 muffins.

Ya'll jest ain't right. The only vegetable that goes in corn bread is jalapenos and cheese.
Test from the wireless at the office. Testing....

Thanks! Sounds interesting. I may give it a try ... but I'm certainly not turning on the oven today to do it!
Besides that, I'm swamped this week at work and have boychild and family coming in this weekend. No time for experimental cooking til later.

I was wondering about making 1/2 of the recipe and baking them into tiny muffins...sorta like a pop-in-your mouth type of snack. Do you think I could fool anyone into tasting them that way? LOL
