What should Mel Gibson's punishment be? (VANITY)
July 30, 2006 | Hildy

Posted on 07/30/2006 7:49:33 PM PDT by Hildy

Since so many here want so much to forgive Mel Gibson for his anti-semetic tirade and beligerent behavior towards law enforcement I was trying to come up with the best punishment. I think I got it. Besides the obligatory fine, I think the Judge should sentence him to 500 hours community service at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust. What do you all think his sentence should be?

He could show that he's a man with the original C.O.Jones simply by showing Mohammad in a movie, but with Mohammad dieing in the battle between Medina and Mecca.

Change the story!

I think he should be scourged, made to carry his cross while being taunted and beaten, then crucified.

Let the jews do it though, I am washing my hands of this one.

I didn't see anyone in FR trying to make excuses for the Seattle Shooter, did you?

You must be getting news from outside, unreliable sources.

My point is that there are people on this thread show said if someone is remorseful and apologetic he should be forgiven. Who it is really has nothing to do with it.

I have a real problem with this piling on of Mel Gibson.

Sure, many of us are disappointment that he has feet of clay.
....

But he's not Satan incarnate or even Bill Clinton!

Enough already.

He's just a man....a flawed man, like many here....

..who, no doubt, is paying bigtime and catching extreme flak from his wife and family.

Cease and desist already!!!!!!!

There are enough tragic events....world events....that we could/should put our minds to.

Good point, but after 2000 or so years the tribe of Judah has its warrior caste back. It's much better to kick a$$ than to be persecuted.

Tell that to the women who were killed in Seattle.

I was actually talking about the media's coverage of the Mel Gibson DUI-not about coverage on Free Republic. Every report about the shooter begins with how his family says he was troubled and then they move onto his baptism as a Christian. I guess the baptism thing didn't take. I have never seen anyone here post in defense of terrorism.

I was once backed into a corner while Harvey talked to me...it wasn't THAT unpleasant! He was explaining to me the way a Tony Award is constructed..

There are certainly Jewish warriors in America, and plenty of Christians to help out ~ it's foolish in this day and age, in this country, for anyone, even a Jewish woman, even a liberal one (such as several I know), to fail to exercise her Second Amendment rights and get prepared to meet these attacks.

Now this might be a tad difficult in Seattle since a quick check of the internet shows the closest gun dealers are in Bellingham. This is a nice town and people there definitely know what guns are for. No doubt locals can direct folks to the right places.

There are also supposed to be "gun shows" in rural Washington State every weekend too.

Look...this is obviously a sensitive subject to me, and I think this Gibson thing has run its course here. This will haunt him for the rest of his life. It's been interesting to see what people here really think and I've been shocked at some of the totally anti-semetic statement some have made. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You're not really Jewish, are you???? :)

Sounds good to me. But let me ask, as I said before I know not enough about history.

Wasn't this Mohammad supposed to be "involved" with children and other despicable things during his life? Or am I wrong?

Would Mel include that stuff in the movie.

That certainly would get some attention.

;-)

Why should I care what Mels Gibson's punishment out to be?

He was drunk in public. He tried to run from police. He ran his mouth.

Let the justice system deal with him.

Moslems have to "accept" the story of Mohammad and Abu Bakr's daughter.

Christians don't, and haven't. In fact, Dr. Jwadeh at Indiana University (now deceased) used to explain the whole business in terms of what is known from OTHER important people in similar situations in that part of the world.

First of all, Bakr needed to establish his legitimacy as one of Mohammad's heirs. To do this he and his cronies invented a story about Mo and his daughter, then 9 years old. Of course Mo was dead when they told the story ~ telling you exactly how much respect those early Moslems paid the dead.

By becoming Mo's father-in-law, Bakr was secure in his position according to the traditions of inheritance and blood in those days.

Another gentleman had to hold a court where people came in and swore that the gentleman's mother was, in fact, a common street whore, and that she'd had intercourse with a high ranking individual.

Remember, since Mo didn't really exist (as he is portrayed in the Koran and the Hadiths) most of this stuff never happened.
