Since so many here want so much to forgive Mel Gibson for his anti-semetic tirade and beligerent behavior towards law enforcement I was trying to come up with the best punishment. I think I got it. Besides the obligatory fine, I think the Judge should sentence him to 500 hours community service at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust. What do you all think his sentence should be?
Restitution.
Agreed. Apparently forgiveness is hard to come by for some folks who feel the need to post one-line vanities. Even old-timers.
What's fascinating is that while Jews are in a fight for their lives right now some find the need to rake Gibson over the coals for his bigoted comments (ADL).

If Gibson sat down with Jewish leaders and apologized aka repented, do you think they would accept that? Would you accept that?
You have got to know that nearly everyone on this board is pulling for Israel no matter what Gibson said or didn't say that night. Pick and choose your battles - this one is not all that......far more important ones going on. Gibson made a public apology - that will be a real downer for people who were cheered by his stupid drunken words.

All this hand-wringing, imploring Mel to apologize to the Jews is absurd to me.
In my humble opinion, some of you are actually making that old Jewish caricature look more true and authentic ......... that old (and loud) persecution complex.
Ask all the anti-Christian bigots to apologize to the Christians..... then we'll talk about Mel's supposed needed apology.
Hillary's "F'n Jew Bastard" comment wasn't reported in the MSM, if I remember correctly. Not one of my Jewish friends, either Pubbie or Rat, had ever heard of the incident before I dug up some obsure link for them.
Now Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson's comments are well known by Jews, and although many reflexively gave him a pass for merely being a member of a "victimized" group, many others weren't as forgiving.
If Hillary's comments were reported by the MSM I assure you that many Dem-voting Jews would've dumped their support for her. ......but yes, many others would've defended her tooth and nail, making every excuse imaginable for her.
Gibson's comments were worse than either Hillary's or Jesse's, AND he refused to distance himself from his father's Holocaust denial statements. .....so I certainly don't expect him to get any slack. ....nor should he.

It is baffling. Could just be a case of self-loathing. Just a guess.
