that isotopic check just doesn't bode well for him.

Why? Did I miss something this afternoon? I thought the carbon isotope check doesn't come until the b sample is tested.

Lance: no doubt there is anti Americanism but doesn't know if that caused this or not.

Reminds me of his quote "Every time a Frenchman spits in my face, it makes me ride faster."

Damn Euroweenies

Landis's doctor says testosterone would in no way enhance a cyclists performance. Says this is a joke.

Doc says Alcohol does raise testosterone.

The isotopic check...not rocket science but maybe a bit tough to explain.

Let's put it this way. Use of very sophisticated mass spectrometers can
give you the exact weight of a compound...and identify the compound by virtue
of the weight of the fragments that the compound break up into.

What this means is that with a great mass spectrometer, can also check the
ratio between 12C and 13C atoms that are in the molecule.
In Landis' case, I'm GUESSING that this ratio was taken for Landis in the previous
stages...and that it is different in this one sample...thus thinking that
Landis' has some "added" testosterone.

I know that's probably confusing, but in the right hands, these ratios can
do incredible things. Such as finding out the region of England that a
pre-historic man lived in, because we can compare isotope ratios of
his dental material (from his skeleton) and match it to isotope ratios
in the ground water (I can't remember for sure if that was a check on calium
isotopes, but I saw it on PBS's "Secrets of The Dead").
I also think it's used to find out if ivory has been harvested legally (from
a certain region) or illegally (from another region).

I thought that I read one one thread that the isotopic ratio had been
done and that it did not come out looking good for Landis'.

Well, maybe I was mis-read...or the one article was spouting.
If I can find it, I'll check and let you know if "the short was between my ears".

I had never heard that quote before. I love it. Lance would feed off of their hatred. I hope Landis is cleared of this and we continue to dominate the Tour de France much like The America's Cup.

I've been gone most of the afternoon, but I'd think they'd be talking about the carbon isotope test if it had come up positive (finds synthetic testosterone) -it'd be all over for Floyd if they found that. Larry King may be an unbelievably lame interviewer, but his producers can't be that incompetent. I'm pretty sure that news, if it were real, would have been the lead.

King is a terrible interviewer. A few time he asked questions that had already been answered. And you have to put up with that comical face on the left of of the screen zoomed all the way in. Ughhh...

Well, maybe I misheard...but I think you've got it right.
The carbon isotope ratio test does appear to be done on the B test
http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_4106555

So I'll shut my yap; appears all the noise now is just about the ratio of testosterone
to epi-testosterone being evelvated above adult male "normals".

No harm done. You scared the living daylights out of me, but no permanent damage done, I think. :-)

God, This old *uckface larry sucks soooo much shit. He's interviewing the husband of the Yates women that killed her 5 kids and not once did he ask about the kids. Husband is a pos too, defending the wife and bashing the prosecuters, saying she did nothing wrong. She killed 5 kids one by one chasing them around the house drowning them in the tub that was so filty with blood, vomit etc.....

King is a terrible interviewer

I can't buy that one. I can't think of any other Television interviewer who truly listens to the answers he gets from his guests. Most interviewers only think about their next question while the guest is speaking and King is genuinely interested in hearing what they have to say.

I may not care for his personal politics but he is fair to both sides of the aisle and has always treated those he disagrees with with the utmost respect and that includes our current President. And that is precisely why both George Bush's and their wives have been on King's show many times. The man is fair and respectful.

Thanks, MG. I listened to Greg LeMond this morning and I'll be very interested to see how the B sample comes in.

Go watch the interview. Didn't look like he was thinking at all. And he read so many prepared questions he was asking a few that had already been answered. It was obvious he wasn't putting any thought into it. If I had been the doctor or Landis I would have said, "Well Larry, like I just said before"..."Larry, like I just said five minutes ago". He was terrible. Saying he is better than other TV interviewers isn't saying much.

Best interviewer is Rush, maybe I'm spoiled.

Nope...the carbon isotope test has not been done yet. We are still waiting for the analysis of the "B" sample for the T/E ratio, then if it also shows the same high ratio, Landis can have the carbon isotope test done, and that will definitively prove his innocence...or guilt, whichever it may be.

Personally, I don't see big deal about testosterone in Landis' case...it would not give him any advantage...when you take 'roids, you have to take them in a "cycle" that lasts several months, and you have to do weight training to get any results. It would not magically improve your endurance, especially overnight. It's not like he tested positive for EPO, folks!

I also find it really suspicious that the results come from the very same lab that tried to smear Lance Armstrong.

I am confident that Floyd Landis will ultimately be exonerated. It's just a shame the cheese-eating surrender monkeys had to piss on his parade like this.

The more I see/hear, it sure comes off as a last-ditch smear of Landis
by some sore losers.

I was suprised that one doctor interviewed on TV (CNN?) even said
sabotage was a possibility.

Too bad there probably won't be a REAL investigation if subterfuge by
some anti-Landis @$$hole is responsible for generating a low-life smear.
