That's right its just a little over 8 months until once again we Coke aficionados get that original Coke taste. And I am not talking about the white stuff. I am talking about that carbonated confection called Coca-Cola. In it's current form it's nothing more then garbage in a bottle.
But once a year the Coca-Cola bottlers in the US of A start producing Coke made with good old sugar, not HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup). The younger folks here, 26 and younger, have no idea just how much difference sugar makes in coke. For them I suggest trying the real deal, you will never want to drink any other version.
Which leads into my reason for this vanity post, anyone anywhere that might know places to get this version, commonly known as Passover Coke, before Passover, post here. Or maybe you have a story or two to share.I have tried the Mexican route but lately they are using HFCS and claiming its made with sugar(very easy to tell). I have also heard that Canada makes the sugar version but have yet to find a supplier. And as much as I like it, I just can't talk myself into a road trip.
Well, that explains it. . .
HFCS is there so that you buy more Coke. . .
Frigging corporate drug-dealers!!! (grin)
If only NYC had a large Jewish contingent that celebrated Passover, you'd be in luck.
Oh, well.
They do, but I've never seen it in any of the stores here, and I live pretty close to a strong hasidic neighborhood, I'm surprised none of them have it.
Suppose God changed his mind about what to eat...how would anyone know?
Mexican import coke still has cane sugar!
Oy, I was just kidding.
I've seen it here...but have never sought it out.
That is a good question -- the Torah is a static text for this kind of thing (as is the Bible and virtually all religious texts). How does God update the info if there is a change?
The Catholics have the Pope, most Protestants can follow their own interpretations. Is it possible for doctrine to be updated for the orthodox?
Any Othrodox Jews know an answer? I mean this as an honest question -- no disrespect is intended.
Barbra Streisand makes an announcement on one of her hundred "farewell" tours.
Funny but true!
The synthetic manufactured molecule HFCS has a cascading hormonal effect that dulls the satiety mechanism.
So, yes, it is a drug.
LOL!!
Why would one satisfy more than the other given that both sugar and HFCS are made up of the same ingredients (fructose and glucose) in almost identical proportions?
I think you mean propylene glycol instead of polyethylene glycol, which is a polymer. Propylene glycol (PG) is used by the flavor industry as a solvent to extract cola or essential oils from citrus. It's simply a byproduct of creating a flavor. The flavor companies break it out on their ingredient list and so do the soft drink makers. PG is easily metabolized by the body and has never been shown to cause any harm.
So, yes, it is a drug
Just when I didn't think your posts on this topic could get any loopier, you produce this gem. Hopefully, no one else is believing your nonsense.
There is one way to prove what you say could be possible. Show us how the chemical structure of fructose and glucose molecules from HFCS differ from molecules of fructose and glucose from hydrolyzed sucrose (sugar).
Standing by.
>>I think you mean propylene glycol instead of polyethylene glycol, which is a polymer. <<
Nope
>>Carbonated Water, sugar and/or corn sweetener, caramel color, artificial and natural flavoring, phosphoric acid, sodium benzoate (preservative), caffeine, monosodium phosphate, lactic acid and polyethylene glycol.<<
"Chemically different but too close for my comfort."
So you must belong to the "fake but accurate" crowd!
Different chemically means different - as in "not the same"

You delurked to take cheap shot like that?
Polyethelene glycol is a bunch of etylene glycol (anti-freeze) molecules stuck together so its pretty darn releated.
This is an excerpt.."Moreover, we know that the fructose does not affect appetite," he said. "Unlike glucose, it does not affect insulin secretion and has absolutely no affect on the feeling of satiety linked with consumption of most foods. In other words, we know that calorically sweetened beverages may enhance caloric over-consumption by their actions in the body."
This is the complete article, some interesting reading. University Of NC Study
But even without this article the Coke with sugar is still tons better then the HFCS type. And I still want that fix more than 1 time a year.
