Shut and Sing Alert - Shakira
Shakira

Posted on 07/23/2006 11:39:38 AM PDT by Perdogg

(From Her Website)

I want to speak as a young person in the name of my generation because I am sure that my generation agrees with me on this: war is not the solution to any conflict.

Not today, not in this century. Its urgent that there is an international diplomatic intervention and an immediate cease of fire. I am sad, I guess like the rest of the world is, to know that because of this conflict so many innocent mothers and children are dying.

I just want a call from my generation to the US leaders and the super power countries' leaders to stop this war because we all know they can stop it. I just hope that there is an international diplomatic intervention right away.

We want something better for our kids; the kids in Colombia, the kids in Israel, the kids of Palestine, the kids of the world, because I believe in only one human race. ..We don't need leaders that create more divisions and resentment and more hatred.

We need leaders that care about the people and about the social needs of a nation, not leaders that only invest on weapons and space missions.

I think we need to start worrying about what we have here on this planet, which is really tough, it is tough to survive in the world we are in, with so many natural catastrophe's like the tsunami that just happened in Asia and on top of that, we are killing each other. This is something I don't understand.

There is a lot that we need to start doing in order to survive as a community and as one human race.

I don't have a link. I received this information via a third party website, so keep this in mind.

Her official website is over here: www.shakira.com

She does issue a statement. I was unable to cut and paste the text, but suffice to say it is a little bit different than the one you posted.

She makes no mention of US leaders or space missions. It sounds more like a young girl wishing to "give peace a chance."

Sure, we don't. Now get rid us of Osama, Mahmud, Nasrallah and the rest of that ilk.

Still, she has a very good investment portfolio, much of it in businesses that dabble in weapons, etc.

She mouths this stuff so the leftwingnuts in Latin America don't disrupt her concerts and so forth.

That's why you should never, ever pay any attention to a Latino celebrity when it comes to politics.

Haha! She's no idiot. Or at least her accountants aren't anyways.

That being said, I wonder how many of these anti-war, liberal entertainers invest their money in defense industries.

This idiot's native country is only inhabitable these days because the current conservative government, with US aid, has made war against the narcoterrorists and Communists for the last ten years. What a genius she it.

Which is exactly why she's not an idiot. Her concerts don't get disrupted ~ and in South America that usually means with gunfire and bombs.

She knows exactly what to say and where to invest her money. Besides, hips don't lie eh?!

Pop star Shakira makes plea for Lebanon peace

Associated Press

Greece, July 21, 2006

Pop star Shakira made a plea for a cease fire in Lebanon Thursday, before performing at a concert in Athens. "So many mothers and children are dying every day and that's something we cannot tolerate, not today, not in the 21st century," said the Colombian singer whose father is from Lebanon.

"I want to call (on) the US leaders to stop this war, because we all know that they can stop it," she said.

"I just hope that there is a diplomatic and international intervention right away, I think it's necessary." Shakira is on her Oral Fixation world tour. Her remarks were well received in Greece, which has evacuated 1,700 people from Lebanon 500 Greece and 1,200 non-Greeks and where near daily demonstrations have been held against the Israeli attacks.

Late Thursday, about 500 people marched to the Israeli embassy to protest the bombings.

At the rally backed by Greece's Communist Party, youths chanted "Israelis, Americans Killers," and burned two homemade Israeli flags.

That's not what she posted on her web site. I don't know what she really said. I missed that show.

Yeah, because, even if she was bucket-ugly, she'd still be known for her "art."

Riiiiiight......

I used IE. You click on her face. Then you click "enter site" and several "Polaroid"-looking photos pop up. Her statement from the Greece show is in the upper right hand corner under "News."

The same exact number of liberal anti-gun idiots who go around with armed bodyguards.
