We're dealing with two entities: human reason which is essentially limited, and God, Who is essentially unlimited. In view of this disparity it seems unbecoming for the limited entity to call the unlimited entity a deceiver, or liar, or whatever. The limited senses we have may think of the universe as billions of years old, but due to its limitations may err considerably.

You have a lot of faith in yourself. Good for you. But what is it worth? I've always thought the argument "Why would God deceive" to be weak, just as the argument "Why isn't physical reality 'perfect' if there is an intelligent designer," to be weak. It is fairly clear God is not into playing games. It is also fairly clear the rest of us are.

A content and happy life?

You said that it was not deceitful for God to create a universe that appeared to be old but wasn't, because God was eternal. Please try to stay focused.

"It is also fairly clear the rest of us are."

Speak for yourself. :)
