13:57 - 139 Riders Still In The Race...

Florent Brard (CEI) was not at the sign on this morning. The French champion is the last rider to quit the 2006 Tour de France.

There are 139 riders in the peloton for the final stage. The other rider who started stage 19 but is not present today is Robbie Hunter (PHO). The South African finished outside the time limit in the time trial yesterday.

BaBa & iggie - thought this was interesting given our obsession w/ the time limit. :) Saw an article that said that the limit was based on 25% (it didn't go into the sordid details:). But it gets worse - not only is Hunter not racing, he wasn't allowed to ride the chartered TVG to Paris w/ the rest of the Tour entourage, because he "is no longer considered to be a participant in the 2006 Tour". Damn!, that's cold!

The last stage is gone. Landis and the Phonak team are in front of the peloton.

14:10 - "Impeccable Floyd!"

Michel Battiono, the man responsible for showing the time checks from the back of the motorcycle throughout the Tour, has just presented his thoughts on the race to the rider in the yellow jersey: "Impeccable Floyd!"
Short, sweet and honest.

Bonjour! Speaking of Mork, he wasn't at the TDF this year, was he? I'm waiting for Cereal to make his move today. At 8' back, he can still make the podium in time if he shoots over to the peripherique. It's usually pretty fast at this hour.

Good thing they have all 17 other streets blocked off at each of the traffic circles, otherwise he might be able to take a detour

Hi, and good morning to you because here it's the afternoon.

all the french can't be on the Champs today ;-)

It's funny. All the gendarmes on the tour have flags with a picture of Floyd Landis and it's written "Thank you Floyd" !

Something wonderful to see this morning and an antidote to mass liberal reporting about the Middle East. Thanks, Floyd!

14:29 - Phonak Team Leading Peloton...

It should be some time before we see any attacks in the final stage. Right now the peloton is near the 14km mark and it is being led by riders from the Phonak team: Victor Hugo Pena, Bert Grabsch, Nicolas Jalabert, Axel Merckx, Koos Moerenhout, Alexandre Moos and the yellow jersey wearer Floyd Landis.

Do you have a more detailed map of the city center route? That's what I was saying about the peripherique, then he could duck down to the metro, bypass the blockades & come up on the champs!

Good morning R4F. That is cold... the Tour organizers can be awfully uptight at times.

He is the winner. This stage is simply to cheer him as the winner. He could fall down and the leaders would stop to let him keep his lead. Yesterday was the final racing stage.

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Shalom Israel

leilani, if you were a dog, you'd be Lassie - loyal to the end! LOL

Sounds like Republicain might be able to help here, much more familiar w/ the area. I'm thinkin' you're gonna need a GPS tracker, headsets to patch you, Chou-Chou, and Republicain in, and ...oh yeah, a mountain bike - much better for the ups & downs in the Metro stations! ;>)

I never knew that. But... it's not like I follow the Tour closely.

This has got to be a sharp stick in the eye for the Frogs. Armstrong is retired and yet we, THE USA, still win it.

Screw it, go for the Cooper Mini in AG2R Prevoyance colours ( ;), the Mini is pretty much de rigeur these days for any underground chase scene, especially if escalators are involved! ;>)

Where are you? What city, departement, etc? Reason I ask is you seem more...eastern? Do a detect a little Savoyard in your accent, maybe?

Well, Landis rides on a Swiss team. And DSC only has 1 American on it, but what the hey. Our FReeper on the spot, Republicain, sez that the locals are very much impressed with Landis' performance.
