The association that I was commenting on was made between Madonna and the junior senator from NY (also known as "Her Heinous).

I tell them it's better than the alternative. Sometimes it takes them a while to get it, too...I tell 'em tell them it's better than the alternative, depending on which way you go...

Fixed your typo:
What a terrific insight (i.e., equating Madonna and Her Heinous). Right on the money! They are both dour and sour, self-obsessed and self-important, arrogant and carpet baggers munchers.

Oh, apologies.
I always liked Lauper. She managed her career just right.

As the quintessential '80s poster girl, Cyndi's easy to make fun of, but she does have a nice voice. Listen to "Time After Time."

What I find amazing is her ability to sing beautifully and then listening to her speak with that Queens accent...yikes! She makes Fran Drescher sound like Olivier.

I always liked her spunkiness and voice and think she looks great for her age. As for other women rockers over 50, Pat Benatar and especially Nancy Wilson are looking fantastic these days.

Most gay men have brash brazen mouth women as their mothers, therefore they love them as entertainers.

When I lived in Jersey back in the day, I listened to Philly stations--mostly because Philly played more New Wave than NYC (now I'm dating myself using the term New Wave). Philly was very proud of their Hooters (inject joke here) and the story says they were the genius behind Lauper's sound. Another Philly standard was Robert Hazard and the Heroes (que early 80's new wave one-hit wonder Escalator of Life). IRC, Hazard penned Girls Just Want To Have Fun (which ironically VH1's "Behind the Music--Cyndi Lauper" stated was a quintessential feminist empowerment song) and a couple of other gems.
For some 80's flashback, click here for Robert Hazard's

Heh, thanks for the post. I remember Robert Hazzard very well.
It kills me that that song was out 25 friggin years ago.

Wasn't there another Philly local back then that got a lot of MMR radio play. Tommy Cromwell and the Young Rumblers. I might be wrong on the exact name.
