Thanks. I posted it on Sill's blog. Is there any activity on the Sheehan blog?
"Our responsibility is to investigate the case, to protect the integrity of the case, and when the time comes, provide the evidence that we've gathered in a court of law to bring about a conviction."

I started a thread at CTV in open court.
Wonder what'll happen to it?

The Cook should be in a Protection program.
The Policy of the Newspapers should be not to release the name of assault and battery victims.
Do you think that Nancy Grace, Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Alan Colmes will float rumors on the air about a Broom attack, and discuss whether the Pick-up truck was a form of intimidation - and has historical roots to blacks being dragged behind pick-up trucks in the South?
Will Jesse Jackson offer to pay for the Man's education - regardless of the investigation's outcome.
How many Midnight Vigils will be held at Universities?
Will the Media fear and suspect that the Durham City Council or some other Durham group will pay off the Cook to drop the charges?
Will Willie Gary woo the cook?
Will the N&O grant an anonymous interview and only print information favorable to the Cook?
Will the media openly speculate on other Police turning state's evidence and testifying against Gottlieb and Clayton?
Will Gottlieb's and Clayton's friends and confidants be arrested on unrelated charges?
Will the main investigator in Raleigh notes be missing for over 4 months?
Will the Judge hearing the Case Ban Gotllieb and Clayton from Raleigh?
Will African-Americans be allowed to hurl threats in court at Gottlieb and Clayton?
Will the Wake DA want to know the whereabouts of the entire Police force on the night in question?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . QUOTES - QUOTES
Will the Wake DA make the following statements repeatedly in National interviews:
"The racial slurs involved are relevant to show the mindset
involved in this particular attack, And, obviously, it made what is already an extremely reprehensible act even more reprehensible."
"The contempt that was shown for the victim, based on race was totally abhorrent"
"In this case of assault is bad enough in and of itself, but when it's made with racial with racial epithets against the victim, I mean, it's just absolutely unconscionable,"
"This is not the kind of activity we condone, and it must be dealt with quickly and harshly."
It is important that we not only bring the assailants to justice, but also that we lift the cloud of suspicion from those PD members who were not involved in the assault.
The circumstances of the attack indicated a deep racial motivation for some of the things that were done. It makes a crime that is by its nature one of the most offensive
"It is a case that talks about what this community stands for"
"We're talking about a situation where had somebody spoken up and said, 'Wait a minute, we can't do this,' this incident might not have taken place"
"This is not a case of people drinking and it getting out of hand from that. This is something much, much beyond that."
"In 70 percent of Hate Crimes, there is No DNA."
I feel pretty confident that a battery occurred.
"My presence here means this case is not going away.
They don't want to go up against me.
"The information that I have does lead me to conclude that a assault and battery did occur"
"His general demeanor was suggestive of the fact that she had been through a traumatic situation.
"The investigators, clearly, has not been fully cooperative"
"There's been a feeling in the past that Durham Police are treated differently by the court system
"When I looked at what happened, I was appalled. I think that most people in this community are appalled"
"I would like to think that somebody has the human decency to call up and say, 'What am I doing covering up for a bunch of hooligans?'"
"Anytime you have a victim who can identify the assailant, then what you have is a case that must go to the jury"
""I'm not going to allow Raleigh's view in the minds of the world to be a bunch of Durham Police beating a black man
from Raleigh."
"It's not me that's trying this case in the media"
As you might imagine, I have received hundreds of letters, e-mails, and telephone calls from across the country about this case since the beginning, but five of those letters are of particular significance to me, because each comes from someone who was once himself the victim of an assault and who chose not to report it to law enforcement. Two of those letters are from former Durham Policemen who were assaulted by other former Durham Police officers."
"One would hope that I would not be proceeding without some evidence."
"One would wonder why one needs an attorney if one was not charged and had not done anything wrong."
"We're asking someone from the Police force to step forward"
"It just seems like a shame that they are not willing to violate this seeming sacred sense of loyalty to the PD for loyalty to community"
"My guess is that some of this stone wall of silence that we have seen may tend to crumble once charges begin to come out."
Nifong is already in a position where he has to attack the testimony / statements of Officers Shelton and Sutton, now he's going to call into question the Notes of the Lead investigator and Supervisor of all the detectives on the case?
Granted, this is a weird case, but how does Nifong pull that one off?
That would certainly increase the perception of him playing Captain Ahab to the LAX players White Whale.

EXCERPT
When reached Saturday, Durham City Manager Patrick Baker declined to say if the officers involved had any ties to the lacrosse case. He said the incident involved "several officers" from Durham, but he didn't have an exact figure.
Thanks!
This may be the fatal shot to this Corrupt investigation.
Sorry if it's already out there, but the N&O has a new article up with Gottlieb's picture:

Lacrosse defense witness arrested
Cabbie questioned in 2003 incident
DURHAM - A Durham police detective investigating the Duke University lacrosse case arrested an alibi witness Wednesday on a 2 1/2-year-old misdemeanor warrant.
Taxi driver Moezeldin Elmostafa said Investigator R.D. Clayton and another officer asked whether he had anything new to tell them about the rape case before driving him to the Durham County jail. He said no and was held for five hours, until a friend posted his bail on a shoplifting charge.
(snip)
http://www.newsobserver.com/122/story/438757.html
That was the goal the two investigators, Benjamin Himan and R.D. Clayton, had when they approached Elmostafa, authorities said.
Ref N&O with Gottlieb's Pic:
The guy looks like a state's witness in a Mob trial.
In his defense, you'd be pissed too - if you lost your report/notes in a case of this magnitude.
thanks maggie.
In reference to the Cabbie, it was said on one of the shows that the Cabbie stated there were more investigators there then the Police version of the questioning and subsequent arrest.
Some have speculated the investigator present - but not mentioned by Police may have been Linwood Wilson.
Devastating!
Did you see where the N & O put this story ... under Durham County, hence no mention on their front page.

Ken,
According to Mike Nifong, if the cook IDs anyone, it has to go before a Jury - regardless of what is found in the investigation or what the Wake D.A. thinks:
"Anytime you have a victim who can identify the assailant, then what you have is a case that must go to the jury"
Mike Nifong, 2006
In Regard to latest N&O article:
Notice anything else? I suspect this will be the article in the PRINT edition (reads Jury Pool).
There is NO MENTION of race in the article.
There is NO MENTION of Racial epithets - NONE.
Yes, and I noticed little word games by the N&O too.
They write, "Hours after the alleged incident".
INCIDENT - why not attack or Assault or Battery?
It wasn't an INICDENT at 610 N. Buchanan on March 14th.
Racial slurs has been changed in this article, that many more will read, to "AN ANGRY VERBAL EXCHANGE"
Wonder why Kim and the Players didn't have an ANGRY EXCHANGE.
The Media is too much. This is ridiculous
Please write the N & O on this obvious double standard !!
