Have never met him. And as for funny stories - I have a few myself. Once in the Khrunichev plant [large rocketry] the employees managed to lift the lid on a sealed railroad tankcar of ethanol, inserted a thin tubing, threw it over the plant fence into a large bush outside - and siphoned the whole 60 tons tankcar dry. I used to live not far away and knew a few participants.
Well one story Victor told happened after he came to the US from Japan (where he flew the Mig-25). He had a small apartment where he was being de-briefed. He couldn't speak english yet and went to the supermarket. He bought Freedom Pads thinking they "gave American housewife freedom in her housework". He used then to wipe off the kitchen countertops, etc.
His handlers got a major kick out of that. BTW we know a young Russian woman that married a friend of ours, she speaks nearly perfect midwestern USA english! English was her major over there.
