BILLERICA -- A 24-year-old Brazilian man is being held at the Middlesex County jail in Cambridge, accused of raping a local 12-year-old girl, police said.
Paulo Jose Dos Santos was arrested last week by Billerica police, charged with two counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Detective Sgt. Roy Frost said police acted quickly to arrest Dos Santos after a short investigation, fearing he might flee the country.
Police believe Dos Santos is in the United States illegally.
Frost said the man has been deported by Immigration and Naturalization Services before, and investigators think he may have sneaked back into the country through Mexico.
The INS put a detainer on the suspect in this most recent case, and he is being held on $500,000 cash bail while prosecutors wait for a grand jury indictment.
Frost said there is still an active investigation, but police believe Dos Santos twice raped the 12-year-old girl who was an acquaintance.
Though he had been living throughout the state of Massachusetts since returning from Brazil, his address is listed as 230 Washington St. in Marblehead.
Thank you, President Jorge for doing such a good job in securing the borders and protecting American citizens from animals like this!
He's just raping the children Americans refuse to rape.
*sigh*
Twice.
Nope, that's the XXXXcan "family" values.
My tagline says it all.
Massachusetts is nationally recognized as regarding rape of children as "no big deal".
Just ask AG Reilly (let off serial rapists who transferred victims between)
or Judge Lopez (let off transsexual rapist using screwdrivers).
As does mine...for 2008.
Congress could require INS to enforce the current law.
So how is Bush responsible. If INS had been doing the job it was supposed to do the amount of illegals would be small.
Who do you think goves ICE it's marching orders? If the borders were secure, this animal wouldn't have gotten back in, and that poor girl wouldn't be scared for life.
When that name came up bells went off and I was going to check the date of this news item.
Yes, that schmuck's name has come up before for an identical crime...
Down in Ol Meheco thid is probably the norm. I say let him go / scm
The executive branch is supposed to enforce the laws, not Congress. Re-read your Constitution.
