DURHAM - After at least three years of planning, construction delays and personnel shortages, the Durham County jail is fingerprinting suspects electronically in misdemeanor crimes.
Officers at the jail began the new task July 1. The extra step in the regular inmate booking process so far this month has added about 300 new profiles to local and national databases, said Capt. Julian Couch of the Durham County Sheriff's Office, the agency that runs the jail.

"We're basically up and running now," Couch said........
