As someone who lost a dog I was really attched to after five years (that was five years ago and I've not gotten a replacement--the first time in my life without a dog), all I can say is, Man, are you fortunate!

I hope your gratitude for this long time with your pet doesn't blind you to its suffering, and you do the right thing by honoring the LONG time you've had together and let her go so she'll be out of pain. Best wished to you and your family.

Thanks, Darkwolf.

For 5 years the vet has been calling our kittie a "miracle cat." So I appreciate every day.

I am working on the road, but I will see her this weekend. I hope it isn't for the last time, but it seems time has caught up with us.

It is difficult to imagine life without her after a quarter of a century. She is older than some FReepers for Goodness sake :)

I appreciate your sentiments.

In the loving memorie of your faithful pet please consider getting a dog that needs you. The pounds are full of wonderful, beautiful brown eyed faithful would be pets. We know what will happen to many of them if someone does not open up their heart and home to them. I am sure one who can love a dog as have will make a wonderful pet parent. You will not be sorry but doggie love will again fill your heart and home. God bless.
