Before you get mad at me, our view is that if we are going to spend hundreds (or thousands as incredibly some people do), we will take that money and help a fellow human being in need.

Well, it costs $500 a year for Musica's meds and $1200 a year and about $300 extra every other year for follow-ups for vet visits and she has been on that regime for 10 years so I figure we are looking at around $15,000-$20,000 over that period.

Fortunately, I make a pretty good living and get to do what I want with my money (or what is left after Uncle Sam takes his part). She is worth every penny.

But you do remind me for folks on the thread -- get health insurance for your pet when it is young. It is inexpensive and can save a bundle later.

All the best for your kitty. I had my college dog, Bandit, for 16 years. Now we're going on 9 with our other Lab. It is tough to see them get old!

Good luck today! I have a 5 year-old kitty that is in the beginning stages of renal failure. We got for fluids three times a week and that seems to have stabalized her for now. I know one day, much sooner than I antificpted, I will be facing what you are and so my heart is with you and your wife today. I hope you have more time together. Let us know.

That much over the life of your cat is not all that much. And you certainly must take care of it. Please don't misunderstand my earlier comments. Perhaps we are just jaded because every cat we have become Cayote dinner or the play thing of a pitbull that lived in the neighborhood.

That is what happend to "Fetch" who was for a short time a rising star right here on FR. He got his name becuase I would roll up a ball of paper, toss it down the hall, he would chase after it and then bring if back and drop it at my feet.
