I don't know if the request is prayers for her or me and my wife. I can't imagine a world without my cat.

If nothing else, please pray for a heaven that includes our beloved pets.

God sent them to us to be our friends and companions in life and to teach us the meaning of unselfish love. A loving God would not withhold that from us in the afterlife.

Would He?

I held and sang softly in the ear of my last cat her favorite song as they put her down when her kidneys failed.

I buried her and planted a Bradford Pear Tree over her that I bought at a local Garden Center.

Every Spring the tree has beautiful white blossoms.

I will pray for your cat. It is amazing that your cat has lived to be this old! When my dog passed, I said the very same thing. God gave us animals and some of them are our companions. I cannot imagine why we can't see them in Heaven. Keep us posted.

May God comfort you and give you peace and strength as you endure this trial. May He ease the passing of your friend. I know how hard it is to lose them, as they are truly family members.

Well folks, Musica goes in for her follow-ups tomorrow. My wife has to take her in alone, since I am in Milwaukee and she is in Los Angeles.

I am not even sure what kinds of prayers I am asking for. I want Musica to be well (again) -- she has been to the precipice before and has been miraculously well. But if it isn't mean to be, then I need prayers to help me see when and if I need to take action to alleviate her suffering. So I guess I need prayers for me to have wisdom.

I have invited some others to this thread who have recently lost or will lose their beloved companions to ask for your prayers.

Thank you all so much. God bless you.

Joni Eareckson Tada, who is paralyzed due to a swimming accident in the late 60s, used to say, no, our pets won't be in heaven. But, someone challenged her on it and she studied the issue. After a thorough biblical study, she came back with the conclusion, why not? Biblically, we know in the Millenium that the lion will lay down with the Lamb and Jesus returns on a white horse. So, knowing that heaven will be lovely, I believe that God will allow us those things that brought us such joy in our earthly lives. I expect to see all of my kitties and other pets in Heaven (and I expect our old grumpy dog to have a better attitude :)) I hope she gets better. But if not, I think you can have comfort with the belief that they will be there.

Please don't take this a callous. I see that you care for you pet a great deal, as do many people. I merely offer this - perhaps at the wrong time and in the wrong thread - to share with you our view.

While we like the pets that we have (like you, cats) we would never become so attached to them that we would think of praying over them. If they get seriously ill, we put them down rather than pay a large vet bill.

Before you get mad at me, our view is that if we are going to spend hundreds (or thousands as incredibly some people do), we will take that money and help a fellow human being in need.

Again, I don't mean any ill will towards you and do hope that you pet will continue to give you joy. And if it passes on, that you will be comforted by all the years you have been together.

God Bless the humans.

Best wishes for you and your pet - it sounds like you have given her a wonderful, long life.

I have 2 cats of my own, and I dread the day that their age catches up with them; my heart goes out to you.

Whatever God has planned, have faith that it's for the best (He knows what He's doing, much more than we do!)

I am so sorry. It is a terribly hard time. I believe our pets will be in Heaven. But it hurts to be the one left behind. I hope you have a while longer together.

Good news!! Just heard back from the Vet and she says that Musica's thyroid has gone back to normal (with her meds)!!

Thank all of you for your warm thoughts and prayers -- clearly they worked!

If I missed anyone on this list, I am sorry. I tried to get everyone's name for the ping, but I did it manually.

Gor Bless all of you, your families and, of course, your furry family members.

Well, I know myself, I fight for the lives of my cats even though there are times it might be hopeless. I know one cat I had, Muffin, she had kidney failure but we kept her alive for 2 and a half years with it, she passed on a minth's away from turning 17. Greystone had kidney failure when he was barely 5 years old, died within 3 weeks. A week and a half later after we laid greystone to rest, Boo, 16, got sick and we thought we were losing him but he bounced back, diagnosis, an infection of unknown origin. Pansy, my soon to by 19 year old calico cat has thyroid problems too, we had to adjust her dosage a bit but she seem to be doing fine although I think there is room for some more fine tuning.

I guess it if was me, I'd try the radiation or surgery although the latter is risky for a 24 year old, even a 19 year old. Still talk to your vet, think on it, pray to God and make the decision, I can't tell you what to do of course but as I said in my last sentence, in my case, I would fight to keep her alive.

Hello freepers, I have a favor to ask.

About eight years ago, I rescued a cat from the pound. He is an awesome cat, and I don't regret adopting him. The one problem is that I am alergic (he was meant to be an outdoor cat as a result). This cat is not your usual cat, he is almost like a dog, and craves attention. The only problem is..... he is a crier, and a loud one at that. Why does he cry, he wants attention.

Unfortunately, he wants attention very early in the morning. I started getting complaints from neighbors and had to board him temporarily while we moved into our new home. The boarder said, that he only cried the first night, there were no other animals in his area. But the minute another cat was brought in, no more crying.

Here is the problem, I just can't adopt another cat right now, as much as I'd like to and the pound is out of the question. Is there anyone out there, any cat lovers, that would be interested? He is a beautiful cat and is very sweet and playful.

I live in the Fresno area. If there is anyone out there interested, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks!

I will continue to pray for your beloved Musica. These are my babies. :o)

Molly McGuire wanted to say she's glad Musica is feeling better.

Mr. Bubbles is happy that Musica is doing better, too.

24 years???
I did not think that was possible - I thought the upper range was 20.
We have always gotten our cats off of the streets as rescue kitties - don't really know how bad their early developement ever is - our record is 17 years for my psycho-calico - she let me know when she was ready to go - wept like a baby anyway.
