My kittie "Musica" is 24 years old. Up until now, she has done well but the vet says her thyroid is failing.
She has been with me for almost my entire adult life. She has been on thyroid (and other) medication for the last 6 years but it looks like the medication isn't working any more.
The vet said radiation therapy might work but 24 equates to over a hundred years old in human terms. It would be torture to put her through that. Even a trip to the vet is an ordeal.
Thank you for sharing that most intimate of stories.
Thanks tt!! Well, I am home and she is still pretty demanding so that is always a good sign.
Thank you all so much for your posts, your stories, your comfort, and most of all, your love.
I will get some pics of Musica (and her sister, Neysa, who left us 5 years ago) and put them on my home page.
I am here at home and at least Musica is being demanding as all get out. Her eyes are clear and she is queen of her realm.
God bless you all! You can't begin to know how much you all mean to me.
God bless you too and your cat!
Please take care.

That's just great. What a wonderful kitty girl she is! Love hearing that she's demanding and very much in charge.
Please pat her on the head for me. I look forward to seeing her pictures.
We have a female kittie (13) who looks exactly the same, identical markings. She's a real smart one.............. eats Purina dry, tunafish and cantaloupe.
;-)
I buried her and planted a Bradford Pear Tree over her that I bought at a local Garden Center.
Every Spring the tree has beautiful white blossoms.
Edgar looks like a pretty cool cat.
Alice Ann is a princess and owns a bird feeder.
Bumping Musica's thread.
humblegunner, what is it with red cats? Over the past 30 years that is almost all we have had. There seems to be a sign on our gate that Only Red Cats Need Apply ... LOL
Every time we turn up with another one our vet just shakes his head in disbelief. 3 years ago, when we took our newspapers to the regional shelter on our way to a dental appointment, I went in to see a "bumper crop of kittens". When I went through the door, a 6-year old 20 pound red tabby, in an isolation cage because he had just been dumped there, mewed softly, rolled over on his side and reached through the cage to try to touch me. We "bonded".
My husband later said that all I talked about for the next 50 miles was that cat.
Needless to say, we soon called the shelter and told them to hold "Tigger" for us until we could get back there. My good husband wanted to make me happy but said that another cat was "the worst idea [I] had come up with for quite a while". He went in to look at the cat for the first time, while I did the adoption paper work. He said that Tigger was sitting on a window shelf and was the saddest cat he had ever seen. When my husband went over and spoke to him, Tigger sat up like a prairie dog. My husband, the skeptic, was completely bowled over and fell in love.
Tigger went home with us that day and has been a much loved member of our family ever since. From an apprehensive cat, afraid of being hit again, he has blossomed into a frisky, comedian and is a much loved member of our family. At first, he could not believe that he he had come to a home where no one ever hits him and he can sleep on a bed if he wants to.
Who was luckier ... Tigger, or us ... that we teamed up? After 3 years, he is stable and happy, runs down the hall to me when I clap my hands; knocks on our door when he wants to come into the bedroom and knocks again when he wants to leave.
Shelters are full of terrific Tiggers who only need to be given a chance to love someone.
When Edgrr was a baby, everyone thought he had alien writing on him.
His sisters came from the Houston ASPCA, they were the first ones
we looked at after Joe, Logan & Morrigan had passed away.
They were little babies and came to the glass of the cage and
said plain as day "Can we come home now?"
Awwwwww! How cute! LOL
A tiger cat - they are made of durable stuff!!
Pretty Kitty!
That is a GREAT pic!
Yes, I can see the alien writing ;)
Those are beautiful pictures of a beautiful cat. My prayers for her and for you. God Bless yous both.
