well because he played for Nebraska at some point or another.
And you have to find a die-hard Nebraska fan to find anyone who remembers him as a player either.
To: MikefromOhio
His greatest claim to be fame is being the player drafted that lead to Bill Tobin ripping Mel Kiper Jr.
To: mainepatsfan
LOL
That and he gave John Edwards a run for his money and his Breck Girl sponsorship :)
To: MikefromOhio
Edwards is much more humble.
To: mainepatsfan
LOL
and less self-assured LOL

Texas hasn't really been a 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense since Earl Campbell and Daddy D packed up the wishbone and headed for the sunset. Last year they averaged around 237 a game passing, with 25 TDs by passing. They were still run oriented, with around 275 on the ground, but remember a lot of those rushing yards were bootlegs by Young. Although he's fast, a lot of his yardage was because teams had to drop back in coverage. As Ohio State learned, Young could throw the deep ball.
Prior to Brown, John Mackovic installed a pro style offense at UT, and has frequently been referred to as "pass-happy".

I don't think it will be since USC may have a couple of losses before (Cal and Oregon). LOL. CAL they are always so full of hope, but with little to show for it at the end of the season.
The team to watch in the Pac 10 will be Arizona. Their win against UCLA last year was not as big of a surprise to their fans as it was to those who just looked at their record. Arizona should be a .500 team with the potential to really surprise people. Recall also they were beating USC, at the Coliseum well into the third quarter.

What?
Did they get a ref fired too?

To: MikefromOhio
We may need some small arms fire to help out this year...OSU, ND and Penn State away. Ouch...

To: Pharmboy
yeah....
But you might beat ND or Penn State :)
You won't be able to beat all 3 of them, and I don't think you are going to be able to beat OSU in Columbus
To: MikefromOhio
Maybe they will pick up Trevvie-pooh off of the scrap heap?
Nah, Trev already has a gig.
To: MikefromOhio
I will take two out of those three right now...where do I sign? HA!
We may do a bit better than last year, but it will be close. I will hope for the best and keep expectations low, so we won't be too disappointed.
I have some good friends who are State fans, so good luck to you...

Yeah, some good players come out of the small schools, and Colt McCoy was something special. But even if you look at the best 2A and 3A schools, like Celina, Crawford, Newton, Boyd, etc., how would they do against teams like Southlake Carroll? Also, it's not just that the teams are better overall, but a school with 250 students might be able to have two or three people competing for a position. Some of the big Texas high schools have 2,000-2500 students, so there's a lot of competition just to get on the field.
I'm not saying he can't do it, just that it's a bigger jump in competition for him than for guys who played in 4A and 5A schools. Of course, he had the redshirt year, so that should help him a lot.

thanks :)
you get Iowa at home and that's a GOOD thing.

Michigan State has owned ND for the past 5 years. Look for that trend to continue.

A lot of people never forgave Brown for starting Chris Simms over Major Applewhite. Applewhite owned 48 team records and beat OU twice. A lot of people thought Simms never actually earned the starting job over Applewhite, but was awarded the job because he was Phil Simms son.
I thought Applewhite was a better QB, myself. Anyway, MAYBE the national title will get them to quit calling for his scalp (for a little while, anyway).
