A lot of people never forgave Brown for starting Chris Simms over Major Applewhite. Applewhite owned 48 team records and beat OU twice. A lot of people thought Simms never actually earned the starting job over Applewhite, but was awarded the job because he was Phil Simms son.

I thought Applewhite was a better QB, myself. Anyway, MAYBE the national title will get them to quit calling for his scalp (for a little while, anyway).

yeah, I agree. That move was made the season before I started going to UT, so I dont really remember the details like you do, but I do remember watching Applewhite and Simms and thinking the same thing.
