Here is tothe (nigh inevitable) future Hindu-Christian-Bhuddist-Shinto-Jewish alliance that will -- likely after incalculable mayhem -- finally crush the Mohammedan fascism.

The only thing bad people understand is force. Force lets these morons know you mean business and that you are not some leftist bloviating fool.

After WWII, there were no big wars. The H-bomb didn't exactly bring peace, but it convinced the major nations that all-out war was unwinnable. So we had a Cold War, and a long, uneasy period of small wars. On the whole, maybe that wasn't bad (at least, it could have been worse).

But now it is worse. Nations which use suicide bombers as a primary weapon, nations which idolize martyrs, nations which emphasis life in paradise with 72 virgins -- this sort of nation is getting the bomb.

There will be no long, uneasy period marked by small wars. These people are not interested in "winning". They are interested in destroying the enemy (hence, a policy of Mutually Assured Destruction is no longer a deterrent).

Pakistan is not totally crazy. But it is crazy enough to be scary, and I am not surprised that India may feel that it has limited options in how to respond to Islamic terrorism. Iran, however, must be seen as far worse. Iran simply cannot be allowed to have the bomb.

Israel knows who is responsible, the rockets, kidnappings, murders etc. are all obvious to the source and therefore can be responded to directly.

If rockets and bombs were landing in India, India would also respond directly as well.

And for anyone thinking Israel is over responding, just imagine rockets and bombs flying in over the Mexican border into San Diego... Just how long do you think we would tolerate that??? And just what do you think we'd do about it??? The source(s) would be obliterated in short order...

How many homes in India have hardened walls to withstand mortar attacks? How many have 'shelters' built into them to deflect damage from rockets? How many villages have community bomb shelters to hide children in?

One of the main reasons why there was a difference in response was that on the one hand, you have random attacks. On the other, you have constant attacks by a paramilitary operation that launches from near fixed positions.

As for Pakistan's having a bomb, it is questionable if such devices would work, and even more questionable if there would be much of a country left after India's retaliation. Mathmatics of land area/population density means that India only has to land two nukes to virtually disable most of Pakistan. Pakistan has to land no less than twelve of them.

As a deterrent factor, it falls far short of the concept of mutually assured destruction. A full attack onto Pakistan would be short, brutal and without chance of survival.

I am sorely disappointed in India's response so far to the largest attack on their soil since the last Bombay blasts in 1993...

Is the Islamic bomb (in the hands of Pakistan) really helping as designed?

No of course not, but is that India's fault? I'm not exactly sure what you want them to do, build a time-machine so they can go back and keep Pakistan from developing the bomb maybe?

The current Indian PM is a linguini spined "moderate". That's why they need the right wing BJP to be in power.

Its got nothing to do with the bomb. Its a false propaganda about "Islamic bomb being able to scare off the Indians" propagated by Pakistan. Our weakness and inaction comes from our weak-kneed leadership not the fear of Islamic bomb. We wont be responding like Israel even if it had been Bangladesh carrying out the attacks. In fact even this time Bangladesh was involved. And what are we doing about it? Also remember the time when Bangladesh Rangers killed our BSF soldiers, mutilated their bodies and then returned them to us? What did we do about it? What bomb does Bangladesh have? A weak government needs excuses for their inaction and the fear of "Islamic bomb" is an alibi thats good enough.
