The Dragonflies Lair~Thread XXIX

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Oh this is gorgeous. Thank You.

We are fortunate here (at least I am) no power outages at all. No raging storms either.

We are fortunate here

Why? You live in a loony area, I live in a loony area, why don't you get loony weather?

We used to have a bunch of loons that woke me up every morning. Now it's Canadian geese honking to tell us dark is falling.

"I would guess from your poem you have been camping."

Oh yeah!! Went with my son down to New Mexico for a Rocky Mountain, backpacking, and hiking adventure. It was awesome!

There is something about facing life with the minimum necessities that helps me to realize what living really is. Now that I am back in the "real" world, I recognize the social and political hassles are not really that dire.

I've always loved watching thunderstorms, but nothing makes you appreciate a house more then being in the middle of one with nothing more then a dining fly between you and the raw power of nature.

Thank you for the compliment on the "pearl" portion of my "poem." It was truly an awesome sight that stirred feelings which are nearly impossible to put into words. While I have a hard time conveying it, I will certainly remember it for as long as I live.

As a side note....If you ever get out West to where the Ponderosa pines grow, get right up next to one and smell it. They smell like butterscotch!

Glad you had a wonderful time
living with the Ponderosa Pine.

Watching lightning most sublime
while standing on the fault line.

Snap, sizzle, horrendous crack
lighting the sky with just one whack.

Rain fresh air every where
and the pines drip honey from the comb.

Thank you, Bentfeather!

There are tons of real ones around now. I gave one a short ride walking outside yesterday.

Oh you are so lucky. You gave one a ride, how lovely.

I don't live near water so rarely do I see them.

Early this Spring I saw one and was delighted.

Small ponds dot a large area here in southern MA and dragonflies are everywhere. It's fun to watch them as they are either industrious or resting in the sun. Either way they're beautiful.

There are something like 400 different kinds of dragonflies with different colors. Their prehistoric size was a wingspan of 12 inches.

That would be fantastic to see! They are such an endearing insect to me. Last year when I was out West I saw a lot of them, they are an unusual species called Basket tail Dragonfly. I saw six of them at one time in my brother's back yard.

Blended Fusion

Hear the soft sigh of her contentment
the warmth of her calming breath
the silken caress of her skin, on yours
and remember, oneness forged out of two

Such priceless treasures two may do
according to their own shared mores
sharing fusion, and sleep, that little death
for such love, could only be heaven sent
