Not to defend Zidane at all (he should have retaliated, but there were better times and ways to do it), but if the Italian called Zidane himself a 'terrorist', that's one thing. But he brought his mother into it. That's what we call "fighting words."

Hi dfwgator-
Zidane walked right into their trap if the Italians truly believed they could make him lose his cool. The best response would have been for Zidane to put another one in the back of the net during overtime if he really wanted to anger his opponents.

But he brought his mother into it. That's what we call "fighting words." Lyle Alzado (RIP) once told an opponent he would "kill your family and let you live." And that was OLD SCHOOL trash talk.

What fighting words, how do you know what the Italian told Zidan, did you really believe this crap story but the Times and Drudge. Even if he told him that, he just cannot go an assault the guy. Where did you come up with "this fighting words" crap, is it written law that we are not aware off. This is the third guy that Zidan had Butt headed in his career, that is a lot of butt heading.

Apparently Zidane may have been the first to introduce the subject of the other guy's mother. If so, he had it coming. And besides, the Italians beat the Germans AND the French. They get a complete pass.
