Let's assemble a team that wouldn't go the first 45 minutes if provoked:
offense : Wayne rooney
mid-field : Zidane
proposals ? anyone ?
BTW I just read where Klinsis side kick will go after the WC is over. It was written in the FAZ: They eves dropped on a conversation between jürgen and joachim löw.
jürgen: Where are you're going, now it's all over ?
joachim: Into the spa !
jürgen: The spa ?
joachim: That's where I wanted to go when you phoned me 2 years ago.
Wouldn't worry about it. He's just another bitter loser. After talking bad about Italy's team for a while, it kills them to see Italy reign atop as World Champion.
Nothing new, move along.
Zidane has no one to blame but himself. French players say he apologized to the team. So at least he did one thing right.
But with 10 minutes left, I doubt the results would be any different.
Thanks.
I am just getting in shape and working on my response time, head fakes, etc.
After all, I've got FOUR YEARS ahead reminding people that WORLD CHAMPION ITALIA REIGNS SUPREME.
I can't imagine what the guy could have said that would have
justified Zidane's action. I assume his behavior was
retaliation for SOMETHING, but in retaliating, he let
Italy win.
You probably have seen how this is goind over on the
American news - every station and network is now
ridiculing soccer. Headlines like "Butthead head butts".
How does this explain that Italy is loaded with cheats?
The most relieved person in all of France is David Trezeguet. Because of Zidane's actions, nobody is talking about his missed PK, that gave it to Italy.
That's a real good point, unless of course you are a French supporter. I'm sure based on their initial poll that they have to be pointing the finger at him since they have already forgiven Zidane on the whole. The French have to proclaim a scapegoat so it's either Trezeguet or Barthez, but probably the former.
Poor Trezeguet was reported to be crying at the public appearance yesterday and had to be consoled by his mates.
That's the hard reality of penalty kicks. Ironic since France beat Italy that way in 98 and Trezy scored the OT goal in Euro 2000.
Italy should have won the game anyway with the goal declared offsides. Bottom line: the trophy is now in Italy.
"French players say he apologized to the team."
A black rapist today was convicted of killing a white women here in my county. The thug said he killed her because she was white. After the conviction he apologizes to the court and relatives of the victim. First he killed and then apologized! My Foot!
Likewise, Zidane commits a foul in what could be the most horrendous and dangerous foul in football's history and then...well, then he apologizes. Apologies my foot!
Me thinks he's a very unhappy and empty person because he never followed in his jihadists' footsteps and his life-long desire, ie, to be a terrorist.
Hey, Zidane, what do you want your children to be when they blow up?
This cup has already been written in history books and Italy is the proud winner.
Next!!
The temper-tantrum-prone-cry-baby didn't even have the guts to accept his second place medal at the closing ceremonies.
Let's enjoy the victory with some civility. Zidane is part of a minority community in Algeria, the Kabyles who happen to be Berbers. They have been persecuted by the Arab majority and tales of their mass murder over the last decade are legion. Algeria's civil war cost over 100,000 lives and often was the result of Islamic savages raiding a town and killing men, women and children at random.
I don't agree with using the type of comparison you did.
Zidane has to live with his actions but to compare him to those Islamic terrorists is frankly very wrong considering his own people have been victimized by them in his relatives hometown.
In fact the Berbers, in addition to their own language are thought to be related to a certain group that traveled there, the Romans.
Does Zidane look more like a Roman or an Arab terrorist? Enough, please.
Four years of WORLD CHAMPION ITALY REIGNING SUPREME is like Bush winning the White House again.
It feels great we won, but also how good is it that it just destroys weasels like the French?
Zidane's Next Team May Be NY Red Bulls
"Zidane, France's 34-year-old midfielder, has had a renaissance of sorts during the monthlong tournament in Germany. He had long said he would retire after the World Cup.
But there is a possibility he could soon join his compatriot Youri Djorkaeff in the midfield for the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer, according to several people involved in soccer in the New York area who were granted anonymity because of their unofficial relationship to the club.
Zidane's contract with Real Madrid has expired, and he would not cost M.L.S. a transfer fee. By contrast, Ronaldo, a Brazilian striker who was Zidane's teammate in Spain, was reportedly offered a 10-year, $120 million deal by the Red Bulls and could command a transfer fee of more than $50 million. Zidane, with his skill, tactical sense and field vision, could easily play several more years in a less stressful environment in the United States if he can be lured out of retirement by the Red Bulls."

That linear graph looks very promising for US soccer.
Soon they're gonna have to use logarithm scales to graph it, although I like it as it is, as it's more effective.
actually, Zidane does have the Roman nose... Must say the reports that the italian player insulted Zidane and called his mother a wh**e makes me sympathise with Zizou
welcome to the soccer maniacs club -- it's really surprising how a simple game with simple rules (ok, let's leave out the offside rule :-)) can produce moments of such sublime grace!
Thank you Germany for a wonderful world cup. You may wear your sandals with white socks at my next summer holiday in Spain and I won't say a word -- at least for a couple of days ;-P
