Yes of course there is still a Little Italy although Chinatown keeps flooding in with its teeming masses. It'll remain so as those restaurants will remain there, even if not the best Italian in NYC.
As to who expected an Italy-France final, I would imagine that was a very, very short list. I only thought Italy would get to the semis but I didn't know who they'd meet and what would then happen.
Hopefully the Poles would qualify if it's in the US. 80,000 Poles filling Soldier Field in Chicago would be a thing to behold.
Someone said, How can you pay off Brazillians players to throw the game, how can you fix a game with $$ money where players make Brazillions of dollars.
Easy, ask Italy.
How is that court case going???
*********
No, Pay off the Referee's with Money $$$, or threaten a Coach and influence them to throw a game. I think Brazil was wrongly removed from the Cup.
Beyond that, I do have issue with players faking injuries, tauting one another, Referees passing out yellow cards, early on, like candy. Then all the other shade business of soccer.
I'm glad that little month long series is over... I couldn't handle it anymore. : ) LOL
Soccer and the Masses, they go hand in hand.
Your conspiracy theory died in 1998. France beat Brazil not Italy. If the conspiracy was in for Brazil then France should be holding the trophy not Italy.
Anyway, it's a very tired conspiracy theory going back to 1998.
It was lame then and it's doubtful it will find new adherents now.
The following is the question that I asked... : )
How is that court case going???
Thanks to soccer_maniac for the posts. Saved me from looking for them every day!
Thanks to Zidane for elevating the game to its finest, and then degrading it to some of the worst it can be. What a way to go out....
Finally back online!
Wow, what a Final!
Shocked at Zidane's actions - never seen him act like that before.
Congrats to Italy for winning their 4th World Cup title.

I didn't know Zidane had a previous history of these things, and I really was rooting for him yesterday. Now I'm glad Italy won.
What history?
Apparently he has gotten 12 red cards over his career, and that's a lot.
France would have won with Zidane in the game.
What a disgraceful win for Italy.
Have the Italian courts ruled on the guilt of Italy in fixing games?
What do you base that on? Yes France was the better team in the extra time, but there were only a few minutes left when Zizou got booted. No guarantee France scores anyway. Their two most dangerous players, Ribery and Henry, were already out of the game. And Trezeguet would have missed that PK with or without Zidane. And you cannot convince me that Barthez was the best goalie France had.
I would be embarrassed if I were Italian.

In his final game on July 9, 2006, Zidane became one of only four footballers to achieve the feat of scoring in two different World Cup final matches (he scored twice in the 1998 FIFA World Cup final), sharing the honour with Pelé, Paul Breitner, and Vavá. He scored in the seventh minute from the penalty spot. This goal was his 31st for France in his 108th appearance, and his third and last during the tournament. He nearly headed in the ball during the first period of extra time but it was saved by Gianluigi Buffon. He was sent off for violent conduct after headbutting Italy's goalscorer, Marco Materazzi, in the chest in the 110th minute. The game ended in a 1-1 draw and Italy won the championship after a penalty kick shootout. His agent, Alain Migliaccio has stated that Zidane said a "very serious" comment by Matterazzi provoked the attack.[7] Newspapers said that some have suggested that Matterazzi might have called Zidane a "dirty terrorist", [8] an accusation which Matterazzi has firmly denied.[9] Zidane refused to elaborate on what exactly was said to provoke the attack. He was the fourth person to have been sent off in a World Cup final and the first to be sent off during extra time.
On July 10, 2006, Zidane was awarded the Golden Ball for the best player in the 2006 World Cup. The winner was selected by a poll of journalists covering the tournament; Zidane polled 2012 points, ahead of Fabio Cannavaro, who polled 1977 points. Most votes were cast during half-time of the final match; voting closed that night at midnight.[10][11]
Criticizing your generalizing about the character of the race of the NEW WORLD CHAMPIONS, i.e. ITALIAN, is one more opportunity for me to gloat.
Mmmmmm.
Try as you might to twist them, my words have plain meaning. I said nothing about race.
