Pretty much, yeah.
VIVA ITALIA !!!!
Actually, Italy was the most lucky team in the Cup:
- ITA-AUS penalty kick (undeserved) in the 90+5th minute
- got Ukraine as an opponent in the quarter final - THE UKRAINIE - when others had Brazil or Argentina
- decisive goal against Germany in the 119th minute
- luck, that the Frenchy missed the goal during PK, and that Zidane had such a dumb idea
So, you are really, really lucky Italia!
We´re looking forward to take your Cup 2010 in South Africa and hope you all enjoyed your stay here!!
The world was a guest at friends. :)
"Has ABC already stopped broadcasting? They're not showing the celebration and the awarding of the Cup?"
No. They are.
They are back....
Refs getting medals.....
Although I have no doubt they used replay to throw out Zidane.
Essentially excusing violence in the same way that the movie Bend It Like Beckham did.
Even right now, Zidane is more popular in France than Chirac.
Italy resested many of their players against the USA and had no real motivation for the match. No one should look at the USA draw against Italy as any indication of the quality of the USA team.
Gee, thanks - still two whole freakin' months to wait, and you had to remind me...
Yes, those Italians are always on top of each other, sucking their thumbs, wearing pony tails...
We cracked up at the office a couple times watching their games.
Does this mean that Bill Clinton cancels his late dinner with Chirac to go dine with Prodi instead?
No, the ref spoke to a line judge, whatever the offside guys are called, who saw the head-butt. As long as an official saw it, the ref on the field can take action. And it was certainly deserved.
You're kidding, right? "No real motivation" to win a match that would decide whether they went through or not? They were not a shoo-in to go through. It came down to their last group game and the outcomes of other games. They needed every point they could get. I didn't notice them resting any big players. Maybe someone could enlighten me.
FWIW - I no longer watch pro football, only college. College football seems faster, more susceptible to upsets, and has higher scoring. Pro ball has become too commercialized. As it is, I tape any NFL football games I want to watch and look at them the next day in about 30 minutes if I want to. And I don't think I am alone in that view point.
Let there be no doubt about that.
Brent Musberger is already on his way to South Africa.
Even paper dolls win eventually.
Portugal too has a win today (at least symbolically).
