Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 351 members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 85th place (with 908 active CPUs - 47,400 completed Work Units and nearly 8.5 million points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 19 folding threads)
You're doing us a favor by upgrading his computer. Just do it :)
OK, but he only gets 256K!!
I need to pile on the points between now and 7/21 - we will have a 2 week shutdown and I will loose half my output. :(
bttt.
Best news I have heard all day !!! Gee, sorry to hear that. Really.
Got the big laptop (nearly 3 years old) back up and running with a small HDD and Kubuntu instead of Windows, but I wasn't going to let you slip further and further ahead of me.
uh-oh... I feel my slender edge slipping. I thought you'd get ahead of me this weekend when I took my laptop offline to go to Israel. But for some strange reason the trip was canceled this morning... So for now, I'm still looking over my shoulder.
Well, I do lose one of my machines (mid level laptop) every Friday and Monday (my travel days). Also most of my machines are busy doing other things for me as well or I'd be chasing Klutz (the hero of this forum).
I really do need to upgrade a system or two, but just don't have the funds (my wife wants to spend the money elsewhere).
Top 30 50k Bump
Ahead of you? I never got close enough to breathe your exhaust fumes.
Sorry, meant that for ltcj, although you're quite a speed demon.
Yeah I've heard that copper prices have gone way up lately.
I will almost certainly buy what I originally intended. I always plan far in advance and have reserve finances to cover any surprises. It is very annoying though. I was hoping to get more.
The person responsible for maintenance of this place has done absolutely nothing for years, the place is a broken mess, and the basement flooded a bit during last weeks storms. So I have to find a new place now. I was planning on moving closer to the university anyway.
"But for some strange reason the trip was canceled this morning..."
LOL - now I wonder why your trip to Israel was cancelled. Perhaps it was because of air pollution. You know, missiles - Israeli air force - shrapnel, etc. Next, you'll be hearing the libs scream about how all that stuff is causing global warming. hmmm - perhaps they'd be right - things do seem to be heating up, LOL.
Way to break that 100K barrier! :)
We're up to #82 and we will overtake ChinaFolding in 9 hours
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=36120
#82, with 4 more teams on the radar scope, within the next week. Top 50... here we come.
We're thrilled to see that August came early this year :)
It wasn't that August came early, it was that I lost two employees that aren't going to be replaced in the near future, and the only way that I can keep up with loading software, is to let my patchlink server do it 24x7. Works good for me, and while the minions are patiently awaiting their fixes... they can be contributing...
Now if I could just find time, to go load FAH on a couple or three hundred more.... :)
Are you serious? 300 more CPUs?
I'll take a flight and volunteer to help you :)
WooHoo !!!!!!!! 100k.
Thanks!
