Discuss.

France-England isn't that heated a rivalry in football terms, despite the hundreds of years of war. France play fairly clean and we have quite a lot of respect for their players. Germany and Argentina are the juicy rivals.
"Why post then ? Don't you have a live ?"
Envious folks do live very unhappy and empty lives.
Long live football!
Look Ma, no hands!
I wish Italy would stick to playing like that because they're so good when they want to be. They are the nearest team Europe has to, say, Argentina (I've given up on Spain ever getting anywhere). The defensive mindset is being cast off, which is good. Now just lose the rolling around and silly red cards (yes, I know England need to lose the silly red cards too, amongst other things).
I, too, think that England should have been in the semis and possibly the final too.
I my opinion, having watched Portugal matches against Netherland and England, Portugal does not deserve being in the final.
"God save the queen. Happy and glorious, Happy and glorious, long to reign over us, God save the queen. God save our preciuos queen..."
Long live the queen! Oh yeah!
Argentina and Italy have similar technical and style of play except Argentina can not replicate the defensive execution Italy does with one eye closed.
If they could, they would have eliminated Germany.
"Afterwards, they will stand with their allies and fight against the barbarians against Western Civilization."
Amen to that!
Do I hear another amen?
In hoc signo vincet.
I can't believe such a good team would have few shot on goal... They looked like the US team... it's unbelievable.
$$$$$$$$$$
Just having good players does not necessarily make a good team. Brazil just never showed up to this tournament.
What would they have left, nothing?
You need to listen to what the fans are actually singing...
That would be :
"God save our gracious TEAM,
Long live our noble TEAM,
God save out TEAM.
Send them victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save our TEAM."
No one in the stadium is singing to, or for, The Queen....
I can't wait for the game! it's 2pm EST here... This has the potential to be a FANTASTIC game... the kind of futbol I hope the US will eventually practice. Fantastic short game skills combined with long fast vertical passes... Yummy :)
How many are excited about Juergen Klinsmann becoming the US couch?...
You just havent watched enough to know that form happens (or doesnt, as the case may be).
That really chaps my ass. What ungrateful, greedy worms.
The NBA ought to encourage players to participate, perhaps with a disability insurance program.

The offside rule is to avoid 'poaching', or just hanging around in front of the goal waiting for a ball. As a coach, I enjoy the strategy of using it to fend off the attacking side.
The FIFA rule on this changes this month so that offside will only be called on a player who is directly involved in the play (touches the ball) except in the event of obscuring the goalie's vision. No more 'passive' offsides.
If you don't enjoy the game without any goals being scored, then you clearly don't understand the game. The Italy - Germany game was fascinating even without the last minute goals. Some games are better than others, like any sport. At least in soccer, unlike football and baseball, the players don't spend 90% of the game standing around on the pitch.
Is injury even a big worry in basketball?
(Excuse my ignorance if it is - but it doens't look the most violent sport from where I'm sitting).
You're a little late with your conspiracy theory. That one's been floating around after Brazil got stumped in 98.
The conspiracy theory then pronounced by every Brazilian I heard was that Brazil would be named to host the World Cup for surrendering it to France.
Gee, that conspiracy worked out swell.
How do you pay off the players who aready make gazillons?
There are some games that need a goal, as they say. Italy-Germany was certainly not one of those. Both teams were going for it.
Plus that game demonstrated precisely why the low scoring nature of football is a benefit. Theres no feeling like getting that precious goal in the dying minutes of the game.
You have expounded your crackpot theory on more than one thread.
Brazil were not an especially good team. When they came up against a sophisticated side like France, their lack of mobility showed. Your WWE analogy is a good one, as the lardarse Ronaldo should take up that sport instead of football.
Or perhaps he lost so that he could fly to New York for the world hotdog eating challenge.
