A STREAKER interrupted play by doing a cartwheel on Centre Court at Wimbledon today during the quarter-final match between Russian beauties Maria Sharapova and Elena Dementieva.
The man, who appeared to be in his late twenties and was completely naked except for white trainers and black socks, came on to the court on Sharapovas side and did a cartwheel.
Security staff came on to the court immediately and held out a large red blanket which he charged at before being wrapped up and ushered away, to great applause from the crowd.
Sharapova turned her back to the streaker during his performance while her opponent appeared to smile.
Play resumed after a matter of minutes with Sharapova one set ahead.
David Niven quipped, "The only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping... and showing his shortcomings."
Backatcha ... don't eat it all in one sitting! :)
Cameraman: "Tripod...I've got to get a new tripod..."
Police: "We're not sure of the man's identity, but he appears to be from Little Hampton."
"Don't look Ethyl!"
Too late, she'd already been mooned.
Nice. Maybe I'll just turn the sound down.
She'd already got a free shot...
Grandstanded... right there in front of the home team.
The willowy Russian was comfortably leading in the second set when the streaker suddenly leapt on to the hallowed turf to exhibit his short black socks and his general shortcomings.
lol!
Streaking is so 1970s.
Reporter: "Sorry for the poor image, but our cameraman did not have a powerful enough zoom lens."
Was he concealing a dead weapon?/sarc
"Witnesses described the suspect as 'Definitely not Jewish.'"
Can't believe you haven't pinged this one.
"Two fuzzy balls got loose on Court Four at the Wimbledon."
"Shrinkage!"
Sounds like the streaker had more than his share of ALE before he did his performance.
"What I would have liked was that he didn't do a cartwheel and run around the court for about ten seconds," she said.
"I'm sure they [Wimbledon officials] know it was a little bit too long."
"Today's quarterfinal match featured Sharapova, Dementieva, and Demented..."
