France can write tonight one of the most beautiful pages of their history against Brazil, in the quarterfinals of the World.
I think England will pull this one out. Brazil should triumph in the next match. I haven't really been watching--has Ronaldhino been up to anything? I hear a lot about Ronaldo #9, but not much about the Player of the Year #10.
Anyway, I'm hoping the Teutons emerge victorious.
And the sad fact is -- Rooney is not a true striker.
Why Sven brought Walcott is beyond me. It's clear he won't play unless Rooney and Crouch both get hurt. He would have been better off with Teddy Sheringham for all Walcott will play.
Defoe should have made the team and Lennon should be playing.
All that mixing up in the center and very few shots on goal, at least to this American's eyes.
I hope they both recognize that they potentially have only 45 minutes left, and that they ought to play to win, not just play to get a lucky break or to endure to PKs.
I can't wait for Brazil - France. We'll see the BEST of Brazil, as France was the last team to beat them in the WC. France will also play hard, as Zizou could be playing his last game.
Looking forward to that one.

I can't see EITHER of these teams beating any of the other four teams still alive.
The players currently on the pitch are obviously talented footballers but they are by design or circumstance keeping a clean sheet and that's it.
The Prem is all about width these days - where's England's width? Lennon is a must and not just for 10 minutes.
At 2:55, it's a little early in the day for beer, but Brazil-France has the makings of a great match (if France can sustain or build on its level of play), and I think I shall partake a few.

PS - James Beattie cooled off during the season but he would give the opposition fits.
I agree, if we base it on the first half.
On the other hand, I don't think either squad showed us enough in that half to make a judgment. I mean, they must be better than this, right?

Well except for playing like crap, which they have done in pretty much every game so far.
Other than that yellow on Terry (which was unwarranted) I think the ref has done great. Too bad the players haven't.

Given the exertion involved, and the spartan substitution rules, "sudden-death" overtime might not be just figurative in that case.
