Posted on 06/30/2006 10:13:41 PM PDT by nutmeg

Stage 1 - Sunday, July 2: Strasbourg - Strasbourg, 183 km
Sunday's Stage 1 flat sprinters' stage starts and finishes in Strasbourg, with a 30km incursion into Germany midway through the stage. It will be a tight, tense day with plenty of crashes and a big battle between Boonen's Quick.Step, McEwen's Davitamon-Lotto and Zabel's Milram teams to win the first en ligne stage at Le Tour 2006.

Heck, Miguel Indurain could still beat this field.

Wow what's up with that late start??
To: dfwgator
Yeah this is like watching the US Open sans Tiger, Phil, Singh, Els and Goosen.

LOL
I did follow the thread my dear. And yelling, "It's Saudi Arabia! Its Saudi Arabia!" is quite amusing.
Your response was a disappointment, so off with you. Goodbye. It was nice meeting you. :)

Yeah! Maybe the TDF/AL (after lance) will offer up some excitement after all. At least Dave Z got out with not hangups.

I would love to see an all-American podium.
That would really drive the French nuts.
They may just cancel the race alltogether if that happens.
To: nutmeg
Man, I thought Hincapie had it for a minute there. Nonetheless, Team DSC and the Americans looked good today.

The TDF is going to seem like the year that the players went on strike in the NFL. A major housecleaning was overdue, but man this is going to hurt.
One side-effect might be that we'll see Levi or Floyd win this thing. THAT will really tick-off the French.

LOL! Bob R. (commentator) said that too (that the best thing about an all-american podium would be that'd drive the french nuts) from the booth last night in france!!

Don't write it off, yet. I'm expecting some great battles in the mountains.I like AHL Hockey, too. The competition is great. But don't expect these guys to bring it at the NHL-level.

Still no explanation from anyone for Floyd's late start?Wasn't that Landis' coach talking to Bob Roll and Al Trautwig awhile ago? I missed what he said... did he give any explanation for Floyd's late start?

Sorry, all... I was posting while half asleep early this AM. Today's race was obviously the Prologue... NOT Stage 1. Stage 1 is tomorrow, Sunday, July 2: Strasbourg - Strasbourg, 183 km.
Guess we might as well use this same live thread... I'll try to change the date at the top of the thread via the Admin Mods.
