Tour de France: Stage 1 Live Thread (7-2-06)
Posted on 06/30/2006 10:13:41 PM PDT by nutmeg

Stage 1 - Sunday, July 2: Strasbourg - Strasbourg, 183 km

Sunday's Stage 1 flat sprinters' stage starts and finishes in Strasbourg, with a 30km incursion into Germany midway through the stage. It will be a tight, tense day with plenty of crashes and a big battle between Boonen's Quick.Step, McEwen's Davitamon-Lotto and Zabel's Milram teams to win the first en ligne stage at Le Tour 2006.

    Tour de France ping!
I'll do my best to post live threads for each stage, but I'll most likely post them the night before.

Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my Tour de France 2006 list.

I hear they need riders. I'm available. (I might finish the first stage...)

An excellent photoshop opportunity. Somebody could plot all the drug stores adjacent to the race course.

Lance could still beat this field.

All your Tour De France belong to US.
Quote from the man who owns it, "Enough Already". Wow, did that po the French. Gotta love it.

Lance could still beat this field.I believe I heard Phil Liggett say something to that effect recently... Too bad Lance didn't give it another try this year.
I'm rooting for George Hincapie this year. ;-)

    Hi Nutmeg,

Thanks for the post and pings. I'll keep an eye on George as after Lance I don't really have a fav.

Interesting that the last mass drug busts were 1998.
There was no Tour de France before Lance.
There will be no Tour de France after Lance.

(i meant out of the gate, not off the team... I guess there's lots of room for misinterpretation about everything this year, given the devastation of the field.)
