Ruhnama (A book for "Moderate Islam" from Turkmen President for Life ?)

Ruhnama (or The Book of the Soul from Persian: ruh (soul) and nâma (book), sometimes spelled Rukhnama) is the combination autobiography, historical fiction, and spiritual guidebook written by Turkmenistan's President for Life, Saparmyrat Niyazov. The text is composed of many stories and poems, including those by Sufist poet Magtymguly Pyragy.

Niyazov issued the first part of the work in 2001, saying, "Ruhnama was issued to eliminate all shortcomings, to raise the spirit of the Turkmen." The second part, which covers morals, philosophy, and life conduct, was issued in 2004. The book is a substantial part of Niyazov's personality cult, is required to be prominently displayed in Turkmen bookstores and government offices, and is also required to be displayed next to and equal to the Islamic Qur'an in Turkmenistan's mosques, some having been demolished for resistance to this, in Islamic terms, blasphemous demand.

Ruhnama is compulsorily imposed on religious communities and society generally, with highly damaging consequences on Turkmen society. The work is the main component of education from primary school to university, severely restricting the time that can be spent on other subjects. Knowledge of the text - up to the ability to exactly recite passages from it - is required for passing education exams, holding any state employment, and to qualify for a driving license.

Public criticism of or even insufficient reverence to the text is seen as equivalent to disrespecting the president himself, and harshly punished by dispossession, imprisonment or torture of the offender or the offender's whole family if the violation was grave enough.

In March 2006 Niyazov was recorded as saying that he had interceded with Allah to ensure that any student who reads the book three times would automatically get into paradise.

An enormous mechanical replica of the book is located in the capital; every night at 8:00PM it opens and passages are recited with accompanying video.

Freepers. I wouldn't be interested in sharing info about the book by this out of his wits Turkmenistan tyrant (aka Turkmenbashi, aka Saparmurat Niyazov), but the news I put in bold gave me a wild idea.

What If Niyazov's book Ruhnama can be promoted as a "Moderate Islam" in the Muslim World ? Niyazov claimed that he interceded with Allah that reading his book 3 times will give the reader automatic place in paradise. So maybe leaflets should now be flying all over the Muslim world that will read like this:

NO SUICIDE BOMBING NEEDED !

NO INFIDEL BEHEADING REQUIRED !

JUST READ TURKMENBASHI BOOK 3 TIMES AND 72 VIRGINS ARE RESERVED FOR YOU IN PARADISE !!!

In case anyone interested, his book can be found at www.ruhnama.com -:))))

It's garbage, but the language is beautiful !

Maybe this book reading should be promoted in the Muslim world as an alternative road to Paradise ? Somebody give this info to the State Department -:)))) !!!

Sorry for getting carried away a bit. Just one wild idea !

"Ruhnama was issued to eliminate all shortcomings,"
He was damn right. The shortage of toilet paper is now safely in the past.

The most funny thing is that DAIMLER-CHRYSLER translated Turkmenbashi's fabolous book into German and printed a few thousands issues:

BTW - this story also was reported by "DER SPIEGEL". I am looking forward to the day when they erect a golden statue of Niyazov in front of their headquarters (the workers of Daimler call it "Bullshi*castle")in Stuttgart/Germany not far away from my home.

:-)

I guess not too many in Germany believe in Rukhnama, but I wouldn't mind if the cult of Rukhnama came to Islamic World -:))) It would be a huge step forward for Muslim World to stop waging Jihad on infidels and start reading Turkmenbashi book 3 times to get to paradise -:)))) !

C'mon, GSlob. Using Crappy book for toilet paper is too traditional and too obvious -:))) How about propaganda in Islamic world that Jihad no longer needed to get to paradise -:))? Sounds crazy, but who knows ? -:)))

"Too traditional" - tradition has its uses. "Too obvious" - asking semiliterates to visualize 5-dimensional hypercubes or something else equally exotic surely is a waste of time and exercise in failure. Thus it has to be obvious, given the intended audience of the book. [There was an old joke centering on how the aborigines catch ostriches. It pertains.]
As for "propaganda" uses - would not do. In the old USSR there was a magazine "Korea", put out by North Korean embassy. Maybe you have seen it. It was choke full of exorbitant praise of "Great Leader", "the possessor of the Paektusan spirit" [??- must be a rare cognac, I suppose] - well, if Allah has 99 names, old Kim must have had at least 200. They, too, hoped that it would have propaganda use, but the only use it ever had was a fodder for laughter. I would even bet that this very laughter was a well suppressed first reaction in North Korea proper. And pray tell me, what makes you think that the fate of this garbage would be any different?

In the end, you are right. It's garbage that will be thrown to garbage. However, you never know what propaganda tricks may do if used for good purpose to steer even small percentage of potential Jihadists from Jihad. You never know till you try -:))) !

That propaganda trick you are in search of has been long known and has a caliber of 7.62mm. There are some variants, like 5.45mm.

Since I do not drive a Mercedes anymore I do not have no copy of Ruhnama of my own.

Anyway Turkmenbashi is really funny. This is the offical quiz of his Ruhnama HP:

Have fun! Are you guys able to pass the test??! If you will make it, your way to the Turkmenbashi paradise with 72 virgins is wide open....

A real literary pearl of Türkmenbasy :-))) :

TÜRKMENISTAN
MY BELOVED MOTHERLAND,
MY BELOVED HOMELAND!
YOU ARE ALWAYS WITH ME
IN MY THOUGHTS AND IN MY HEART.
FOR THE SLIGHTEST EVIL AGAINST YOU
LET MY HAND BE LOST.
FOR THE SLIGHTEST SLANDER ABOUT YOU
LET MY TONGUE BE LOST.
AT THE MOMENT OF MY BETRAYAL
TO MY MOTHERLAND,
TO HER SACRED BANNER,
TO SAPARMURAT TÜRKMENBASY THE GREAT
LET MY BREATH STOP.

It can be fond here: http://www.ruhnama.com/rukhnama/id8.htm

That is the stuff DAIMLER-CHRYSLER is translating to a wider public. I wonder if chairman Dieter Zetsche has read those holy words when he gave the order to print this BS.

This is private company, so there must be a market for Turkmenbashi books in Germany. The Germans need this stuff, deal with it Atlantic! :)
