I suspect that aggressive-personality fathers during the 1950s and 1960s did in fact hopefully and disproportionately name their boys after that era's icon of ruggedness, John Wayne. Beyond that, I dare not venture. In my experience women name the children. What I did note in the list is that these murderers disproportionately come from southern states. Wayne is not a common northern name.

We have a local radio host who calls guys named Wayne, "Wayne, no offense" due to the high number of murderers with that moniker.
